I draw my therapy techniques from researched and empirically supported theoretical approaches; namely, Cognitive Behavioral,
Emotionally Focused
, and Solution Focused Therapy approaches.
As humans, we experience pain, loss, or difficulties in our lives as individuals and in our family relationships. We make our best efforts to cope, adapt or resolve these trying experiences on our own. But sometimes, we get stuck or they are too great to endure alone. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a safe place, free of judgement, invested in exploring, healing, and growing. Together, we can work on the interpersonal, emotional, psychological, and spiritual issues that hinder you and your relationships from reaching full potential.

Hello and welcome! Successful therapy is so often about finding the right “fit” between therapist and client. With over 25 years’ experience in providing therapy I have had time to master multiple approaches to treatment, which means that I can customize your treatment to fit your needs. I take a collaborative problem-solving approach to treatment, where we establish an alliance to facilitate beneficial therapeutic change. As a therapist I value your experiences, desires, and goals. A major focus of my therapeutic work is with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship problems.

I CAN HELP YOU HEAL YOUR RELATIONSHIP. PREMARITAL AND COUPLES COUNSELING. "Why does my partner overreact?" "Why do I get so triggered?" "How come the punishment doesn't fit the crime?" “Why can’t he be more supportive?” “Is anything I do ever enough for her?” While you are feeling hurt, you have an added layer of confusion. You simultaneously love your partner and even hope to stay in this relationship to keep your love, family, and dreams intact. You are torn in a tug-of-war of emotions and desire to feel understood, accepted, and embraced by your partner.

I work to help individual adults and teens, couples, and families navigate relationship difficulties, behavioral issues, and unresolved emotional needs. My office is a place where clients can speak openly about their hopes, needs, and fears - with warmth, care, and authentic feedback in return. Our work can treat symptoms of grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.

For those seeking couples therapy, I use evidenced-based methods, including
EFT
and Gottman, to help you and your partner connect more deeply and communicate more effectively.
Invalidating experiences can teach us not to trust ourselves, which may result in feeling small, hopeless, and less than. I’m here to facilitate opportunities for you to access your inner wisdom and tap into your potential to grow and thrive. I use an interactive and engaging therapeutic process that moves beyond conventional talk therapy. Our work together is practical and collaborative: We build a safe and trusting environment so you can connect to your emotions from a place of confidence and clarity resulting in more fulfillment, ease of living, and healthy connection with yourself and others.

Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy.
Often we wait until we have exhausted every measure before we seek professional help. You can start on your journey to healing, reconciliation, peace, and joy today. I believe that in times of adversity and struggle, we have the greatest potential for growth. It is often hard to see clearly how the difficulties we face will lead to positive changes, so instead we lose our way and get stuck in places of frustration, despair, and resentment. The change process is a journey-sometimes long and at times short. It is a process that gives us the opportunity to discover new ways of approaching our circumstances.

emotionally focused
therapy and from an attachment-based and trauma-informed perspective.
“I don't feel cared for.” “When I bring up the ‘hard stuff,’ I’m met with silence." “Whatever I give is never enough.” “Why do I feel so alone?” “We keep having the same fights.” “I just want to be heard.” If these statements resonate with you, I'm glad you've landed on my page! Navigating these struggles alone can be overwhelming. In couples therapy, I can offer effective and compassionate help for your relationship, tailored to meet the needs of your situation. Working together, we can develop the skills you need to move away from a cycle of conflict and frustration and move towards greater connection, communication, and intimacy.

Trained in
Emotionally Focused
Couples Therapy (
EFT
), I have a strong commitment to strengthen couples’ connections, helping partners open up with each other, & build/rebuild or revive their relationship bond.
Relationships are hard work and can be tough to navigate through. Just like our bodies, our relationships require regular maintenance to keep them running well. When life brings about unexpected challenges, it is best to repair them as soon as possible to prevent further complications in the long run. Oftentimes we can do general maintenance and repairs ourselves. Other times, despite our best efforts, we need someone to look at our relationships, listen to us and help us make the best decisions. I am committed to helping you gain insight into your relationships, resolve conflict and improve your relationship satisfaction.

With nearly 15 years of experience working with adults and couples, my clients regain a sense of control and contentment through the use of evidence based practices like CBT,
Emotionally Focused
Couples Therapy, Mindfulness and EMDR.
Often times we find reasons to devalue our own needs because acknowledging pain is hard. I encourage you to take this moment to put your happiness and well-being first. People reach out to me when they feel less in control of their lives. When stressful changes in life leave them feeling restless at night; they aren't able to turn off their mind. They often feel on edge, as if they might cry or lose their cool at any moment. It becomes difficult to feel joy from their usual pleasures. When clients sit down with me they want to regain a sense of normalcy and peace.

Our lives are filled with loss: relationships, jobs, physical abilities; deaths of loved ones; our own mortality. These losses shape our sense of who we are and our assumptions about life. However, these losses can give us the chance to make meaning, not by “moving on” or “finding closure,” but by walking and working through darker times. My job is not to help you “feel better,” but to join you on your journey. I won’t bring timelines or stages or expectations. I will bring my training and lived experience and hope to work with you as a fellow traveler on this shared journey to make meaning of our losses.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
