We will utilize a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework, with healthy and effective techniques from
Dialectical
Behavioral Therapy (
DBT
) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT); emphasizing coping skills to help you better manage difficult emotions.
Life can be overwhelming when we are experiencing conflict, negative thoughts and feelings. My goal is to help you feel truly satisfied and reach your potential. I enjoy working with young adults and adults. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, and ADHD. For the first few sessions, we will discuss your history and the impact it has on your day to day life. We will then discuss various approaches to help you feel better, and together, we will develop a treatment plan to help you reach realistic goal. I am registered Clinical Supervisor for LGPC and a Nationally Certified Sign Language Interpreter.

Behavior Therapy (
DBT
), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Sex Therapy.
I have a waitlist/email for info— Feelings of anxiety, depression, and grief are totally normal responses in these difficult times. My goal as a therapist is to guide clients through whatever is keeping them from living their happiest lives — whether the issue is more recent/due to COVID, or a deeper issue that has been draining someone’s energy for years (or a lifetime). I operate from a collaborative, strengths-based perspective to help clients understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I help clients develop strategies to mitigate anxiety, depression, and trauma/PTSD symptoms that interfere with their well-being.

and ACT interventions.
If you are new to therapy, reaching out for help is an act of courage and a demonstration of your inner strength and hope for a better tomorrow. If you are experienced with therapy, you have developed your lists of likes and dislikes based on your experiences in therapy. I know that therapy works from my own life's journey, and I have confidence therapy will work for you. Now the task is finding the right fit. I want to meet with you for a "no cost," 15 minute chat to see if I am a good fit for the situations in your life that are motivating you to seek help.

Many of us don't know where to begin at the moment we realize we need help or simply become interested in exploring our lives and relationships. We may hear about many different treatment modalities (CBT,
DBT
, EMDR, etc.) and feel confused about what "type" of therapist we should meet with. I simplify all of this by being straight-forward, down-to-earth, and adept at helping you use the best and most effective components of every modality available. Within our first meeting you will have a better understanding of yourself and what you want to manifest in your life.

I incorporate many therapeutic styles and tools including:
DBT
, REBT, and ACT.
I have experience offering trauma-informed therapeutic services for survivors and alleged perpetrators. And I have offered counsel to many emerging adults struggling with fundamental childhood pain related to their upbringing and connected their experiences of racism, their ethnic origins, sexual orientation, gender identity, neurodivergence, and the many other multi-dimensional ways we can identify and be made to feel othered. As I understand trauma can be relational, as so should be healing. So where you may find value in intimate partner, familial, or group healing, I am happy to meet you and other willing participants there.

Who is DBT for?
DBT is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
