I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and founder of the Annapolis Child and Family Therapy Center. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples with a wide range of mental health and family relationship concerns. Problems I treat include depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, tics, Tourette's, adjustment problems, noncompliance, anger/aggression, trauma, disruptive behavior, and family and couple relationship difficulties. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults who struggle with ADHD, mood fluctuations, managing emotions, problematic behaviors, as well as anxiety and depression. My approach in working with children/youth is to include families in the therapeutic process as their best and highest support. My goal in working with clients is for them to have a better understanding of themselves and have the necessary tools to make adjustments for improved growth and development. I also work with parent(s) to strengthen their parenting skills and reduce conflict in the family system.

I serve clients who struggle with anxiety, ADHD/ADD, depression, self-esteem, and suicidal thoughts. My theoretical views are based off of Cognitive Behavioral Theory in which our thoughts, emotions and behaviors have a cyclical effect on each other. In order to change our behavior, we must first learn how our thoughts/beliefs affect our emotions and behaviors. Goals may include building coping and emotional regulation skills, self-esteem, self-awareness, mindfulness skills, acceptance, conflict resolution, and communication skills.

My ideal client is someone who is diagnosed with anxiety disorder. These symptoms develop in childhood and are still present through adulthood if not treated. Individuals need to face their fears with the support of a therapist. By trying to remain calm, without becoming overly anxious or having a panic attack. My goal as a therapist is to help them build their self-confidence so they can control their fears and feel secure. I work with clients to remain calm and practice breathing techniques. I build empathy with my clients by explaining that they are not alone in their struggles.
