You've landed here because you're searching for something: a spark of creativity, improvement in that difficult relationship, a safe place to process what's happening in the world, a deeper relationship with your true self, a way to move through hurt and pain. Therapy that works goes beyond just chatting. You're looking for therapy that leads to change and helps you learn to be in your emotions so that you can move through them. Because, therapy that heals often shifts something inside of us, whether or not the situation changes too.

Couples counseling can: improve communication and reduce conflict; bring back the spark when couples feel like "roommates"; blend families after remarriage; and, create amicable co- parenting during a divorce in order to minimize the impact on children.
Sessions with a couples counselor is not about assigning blame, but instead centers on understanding how each person can contribute to the repair and well-being of the relationship. I am also experienced in working with LGBTQ+ couples, and my approach to couples counseling and individual therapy is inclusive and affirming.

Whether you’re a parent seeking therapy for your child or an adult looking for support, know that your garden deserves radical, tender care.
Imagine your mental health as a garden, where each plant represents a part of who you are. For overthinkers, especially those struggling with OCD and anxiety, the garden can feel overwhelmed by persistent weeds of worry, repetitive thoughts, and restless nights. These challenges can make it hard for the vibrant parts of you to grow and thrive. As a nonbinary, queer art therapist, artist, and outdoor walk-and-talk therapy enthusiast, I specialize in guiding all ages with my extensive training in art therapy, exposure and response prevention, somatic regulation, and parts work to help your garden heal and grow!

People don’t change by themselves; they change in relationship to one another. That is what couples therapy is - - it is helping couples/relationships change with the changes. I help couples to develop the skills to talk about issues under stress that are vital to them. Couples therapy becomes effective as you apply new knowledge about yourself, your partner to break ineffective patterns of and develop new ones. Support you identifying the kind of relationship you want to build together. Plus help you get beyond what blocks you from becoming the kind of partner you aspire to be. Applying the knowledge you get from couples therapy.

You feel unlovable, like something about you is “broken,” “damaged,” or “too much.” You may look fine on the outside, but inside you’re managing intense emotions and trying not to fall apart. When you make a mistake, even a small one, you don’t just feel disappointed—you feel like a failure. Your inner critic takes over, and you judge yourself harshly. Shame and guilt show up fast because deep down you believe you’re the problem. It affects your relationships—you pull away, overthink, or struggle to trust. When you try to rest, memories rush in, and your body reacts like it’s happening again.

For over eight years, I've had the privilege to work with children & adolescents who struggle with managing a variety of mental health disorders, such as Depression, Anxiety, ADHD and more. Most of them have a history of trauma exposures, including community violence, grief/loss, abuse, or separation/divorce. These life experiences often cloud their worldview and judgement as well as their ability to trust others and capacity to regulate their emotions in order to cope with these challenges. They yearn for new social, communication, conflict resolution and coping skills to apply every day so they can live happier, healthier lives.

I’m a dad of two kids and former D1 college athlete. I’m also a licensed psychologist and sport psychologist. Most of the people I work with have a sense of "stuckness" or disconnection in their lives. Disconnection within themselves. Disconnection in relationships, identities, or roles. Outwardly, it might show up as irritability, anxiety, depression, conflict, grief, trauma, struggling as an athlete/coach/leader...but the common thread is often a deep, hard-to-describe, feeling of disconnect. Of misalignment. My work is all about mending disconnection. I prioritize honesty, compassion, humor, curiosity, and courage in this work.

My style is influenced by my experience as a parent, partner, outdoor educator, and by the decade I spent working as an organic farmer.
Instead of chasing the next big thing to make you happy, consider the possibility of first freeing yourself from the things that aren’t truly you. If you are willing to engage in this process with me then the results can be profound. You'll start to connect to and express your authentic self. You’ll respond instead of just reacting to challenging life situations. You’ll increase your sense of inner peace, improve your self-worth, better your health, and strengthen your relationships. I have 23 years of experience helping people, of all ages and from all walks of life, Begin Within to attain self-acceptance, fulfillment, and joy.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
