I do believe each person and family has unique resources to activate healing processes. Brief Therapy requires a highly collaborative approach between therapist and clients, and focuses on practical solutions and clear communication. Brief Therapy offers a maximum of 10 sessions but usually don't need that many to promote change in the problem that is presented. I work with individuals, couples and families with a variety of problems: marital conflict and affairs, depression and anxiety , children and adolescent problems, addiction, eating disorders, stress and work related problems. I also provide online-therapy services.

An ideal client is someone who may struggle with anxiety , depression, forming or maintaining close relationships, loss of normalcy, death of a loved one, and/or work-induced stress. Life may be so busy that they may not even have time to consider what brings joy, creativity, and inspiration. Maybe they feel overburdened by the never ending list of needs from others in their life and they just need a safe place to express themselves. Many people have professional careers, families, own property, etc. However they may feel stuck and unable to cope with unresolved grief and loss, anxiety , depression and that's where I can help.

Food can be associated with love, family, joy, and more. Other times, food is associated with anxiety , frustration, depression, boredom, self-doubt and other negative emotions. If eating is constantly on your mind, if others encourage you to "stop obsessing over food," or if you believe your desire to eat is consistently based on emotions rather than conquering hunger then I am confident we can work as a team to get your life back on track. As a team, we work on coping skills and altering negative thoughts so that you are able to take back control of your life.

Are you consumed with disturbing automatic thoughts, and spending hours chasing, analyzing, reviewing, and giving meaning to the intrusive thoughts? There is hope and recovery to overcome OCD. I will teach you how to change your relationship with anxiety by looking it in the face and walking towards it instead of walking away. It is easy to stay trapped and believe the false messages that your OCD feeds you. I will teach you how to rewire your brain into no longer believing those false threats that your brain is torturing you with. My treatment approach teaches you how to stop competing

I provide a solution-focused approach in my work, often drawing from a variety of tools such as hypnosis, NLP, EFT (tapping), and EMDR - tools that have proven effective whether addressing anxiety , stress, or public speaking concerns.
My clients seek assistance when they need to change something that's not working for them, to develop self-awareness, or to better understand their own potential. If you are sad or anxious, we will find ways to overcome those difficulties. If you want your future to look different, we will see where changes need to be made today. If something in your past keeps you from being successful now, then we will focus on resolving issues from your past.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
