I work as a team with my clients to help them recognize their potential and realistically help them make changes in their life. I start where the client is but look at their family history to get an idea of their foundation. My clients often are stuck, depressed and/or anxious so I come up with a treatment plan that meets their abilities. I treat adults (18 and up) and have a background in domestic violence and often help victims in emotional and physical abuse cases. I also help people learn anger management techniques to control their tempers. I teach a variety of tools to help clients have control over their actions.

You don't have to do all this alone; we were never mean to. That's a paraphrasing of a Brene Brown quote, and it's one of my mantras as a therapist. If you're feeling overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, grief, loss, parenting, or something else that feels like too much to carry, I can help. I'm a telehealth therapist and I love working with overwhelmed moms, stressed out and anxious college students, and those struggling with grief/loss. If you fall outside of these parameters, but something about my profile resonates with you, reach out to me anyway; I love working with a variety of clients.

You've spent years managing what happened to you, and you're exhausted from carrying it. Maybe you keep ending up in the same painful relationship patterns and can't figure out why. Maybe there's a void inside you that nothing seems to fill, or you're still living under the weight of expectations from a community that left you hurt and angry. The things you went through when you were young are showing up in your life right now, in your relationships, your body, your sense of who you are. Part of you knows it's time to stop hiding from them. There is a way to actually heal from this, not just manage it.

Sometimes we just feel stuck: stuck in the past, in a bad relationship, or not able to make a decision. This could have its origins in a childhood trauma or a series of events that chipped away at self esteem over a long period of time. I assist clients in reprocessing past events to perceive them in a less threatening or emotionally painful way. I believe that we already have the solutions to all our problems, but sometimes they are buried deeply. I am willing to be honest as well supportive while helping clients reveal the answers within themselves.

Current Openings! I specialize in supporting clients who are struggling with feeling unheard, invisible, not enough or even "too much", whether in their relationships with others or with themselves. Often what has happened to us can shape our emotional and social blue prints. I can help clients learn to name and acknowledge overwhelming or confusing emotions, while also understanding and honoring the messages and roles these emotions may be communicating to us. I often work with folks who are skeptical, sensitive and question whether it's possible to feel safe enough to be yourself in the world.

I draw on extensive training in neuropsychological assessment, evidence-based interventions, and relational psychodynamic therapy.
I work with clients across the lifespan who want to better understand themselves or a loved one. I specialize in neuropsychological assessment and therapy for ADHD, autism, learning disorders, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. I believe in “assessment as intervention,” and clients are often surprised by the broad-reaching impact of an assessment. I also provide pre-evaluations and support for those considering psychedelic-assisted therapy. Lastly, I conduct forensic and court-ordered evaluations for disability, parenting, guardianship, and other legal matters, and help clients access accommodations for high-stakes testing.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
