For more then 25 years, I have had the privilege of walking alongside individuals as they navigate some of the most meaningful and challenging moments of their lives. My approach is rooted in respect, honesty, and genuine connection. I believe trust is built through consistency, showing up, listening deeply, and honoring each person's unique story. My clients know me as someone who creates a safe, steady space where they can speak freely and be met with compassion rather than judgment. Over the years, I've learned that healing grows from strong relationships, and I am committed to fostering that with each client.

You just finished a productive day at work and felt pretty good about yourself. Then that voice pipes up. “You probably screwed something up” “Everyone is judging you behind your back?” “You try so hard but always mess up.” “You can’t win.” No matter what you do, this inner critic never stops. Every time your confidence starts to grow, and you consider trying something new, that voice returns to fill you with fear and doubt. It seems like you only know how to focus on the bad and never give yourself any credit for the good. You wish you could somehow silence this part of you, but it feels hopeless. You don’t know what to do.

I work as a team with my clients to help them recognize their potential and realistically help them make changes in their life. I start where the client is but look at their family history to get an idea of their foundation. My clients often are stuck, depressed and/or anxious so I come up with a treatment plan that meets their abilities. I treat adults (18 and up) and have a background in domestic violence and often help victims in emotional and physical abuse cases. I also help people learn anger management techniques to control their tempers. I teach a variety of tools to help clients have control over their actions.

I heard it said somewhere "there are two kinds of people, people with issues and those without". So If your are reading this and have challenges you wish to overcome, lets talk. Whether you're having marital issues stemming from a lack of communication, need help for a child or teenager who is struggling with substance abuse or defiance, or dealing with anxiety or depression yourself-you have come to the right place. I assist individuals to help themselves through their challenges. My approach to therapy encourages clients to experience an opportunity for healing, developing skills, and changing behavior.

Hi! I’m Victoria! I believe therapy works best when clients feel met where they are and supported at a pace that feels right for them. In our work together, we move step by step, practicing and exploring things together in session so clients feel more prepared and confident as they continue that work between sessions. Rather than focusing on fixing or forcing change, I work with clients to understand their patterns and develop ways of functioning that honor who they are, especially for those who have spent much of their lives trying to adapt to systems that were never designed for how their brains work.

A young mother walked into my office crying and expressing her belief that asking for help indicated weakness. I thought to myself, it takes a strong person to ask for help. She had forgotten how strong and important she was. I believe the single most important ingredient in a successful therapy is establishing, nurturing, and maintaining a safe, trusting, and genuine relationship. While making use of CBT, psychodynamic and family systems approaches to treatment, I am also flexible in assisting patients in understanding patterns of behavior that may contribute to their conflicts and worries.

For over 20 years I've helped individuals, couples and families discover new pathways forward. We all experience times when we're feeling life is getting away from us. We feel as though we're missing the opportunity to maximize our potential. As a result, we feel sad, a little upset, and at times a bit disappointed in ourselves. Sometimes this is due to a lack of confidence or belief in our potential. Other times we simply find ourselves having to manage unexpected and unfortunate circumstances out of our control. If you've been experiencing increased anger, stress, anxiety, or fear of the unknown, know that things CAN get better.

Living in a state of constant distress can feel exhausting and isolating. Maybe your mind feels stuck in overdrive — replaying worries, intrusive thoughts, or old memories that you can't get rid of no matter how hard you try. I have worked with a diverse group of clients struggling with anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma, body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), depression, and more. I am also interested in supporting individuals living with chronic illness, exploring how health challenges can impact anxiety, mood, and overall well-being. I strive to create a warm, supportive environment where you can not just survive, but flourish.

My ideal client is someone craving peace but caught in the chaos; a child, teen, or adult navigating anxiety, ADHD, or life’s messy transitions. They want more than surface-level coping; they want growth, clarity, and someone who truly gets it. My approach is real, creative, and deeply personal. I go above and beyond to meet you where you are, blending talk, movement, and nature to help you feel rooted, seen, and empowered. Together, we turn overwhelm into understanding and help you become who you were always meant to be. If you’re ready to feel like yourself again, therapy with me is where that healing begins.

Over the last 25 years, I have worked with children, adolescents & adults in a variety of settings. I recognize that in order to effectively work with anyone of any age you have to engage the client where they are at. I realize that it is important to understand culture, upbringing, parenting styles, essentially the world that the client lives in, in order to truly be empathetic to a person's issues and life challenges.

Our lives are filled with grief related to death, loss, life changes and transitions, yet we live in a grief-illiterate culture that wants to bypass pain at all costs, leaving us unprepared to navigate grief when we experience it. When looked at through the lens of loss, many emotional states that plague us – anxiety, depression, trauma – can be tied to unresolved grief in our lives. Healing comes from allowing ourselves to grieve all our losses in order to reshape ourselves and our lives.

Sometimes we just feel stuck: stuck in the past, in a bad relationship, or not able to make a decision. This could have its origins in a childhood trauma or a series of events that chipped away at self esteem over a long period of time. I assist clients in reprocessing past events to perceive them in a less threatening or emotionally painful way. I believe that we already have the solutions to all our problems, but sometimes they are buried deeply. I am willing to be honest as well supportive while helping clients reveal the answers within themselves.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
