My ideal client is survivor of childhood trauma is motivated to create a fulfilling, empowered life for themselves. This shows their commitment by showing up, being engaged during sessions, and doing the necessary homework between sessions. This client understands that healing from trauma and rebuilding trust is a process that involves working through attachment issues and developing a securely attached therapeutic relationship with their therapist.

Not all therapists are able to support you fully when medical or other conditions have caused cognitive decline. This is my specialty. Having worked closely with neurologists, radiologists and many other medical specialties, I can offer you neuropsyc or psych evaluations and brain maps that shed light on problems, and create a treatment plan that really makes a difference. We've helped folks with brain injury or general concerns for cognition, restore memory and attention skills, get to better thinking and reasoning, and enhanced joy in life. I go beyond the limits where others stopped, because rehabilitating brains is my passion.

Life travels at a very fast pace and at times it can be easy to lose one’s sense of self. Symptoms of depression and anxiety; among other irregularities caused by life stressors are responses all have experienced. Greif and loss are another huge component today, with so many tragedies and adversities, one may feel an inability to move forward or a disconnect from people and or purpose. Such encounters often create emotions, that provoke symptoms that can become unmanageable causing levels of apathy, loneliness and or hopeless. Participating in therapeutic strategies could relieve inhibitions and promote positive growth.

Are you an adult or mature teen with ADHD or adult with anxiety, post rehab issues or sleep (insomnia) issues? I would love the opportunity to guide you on your life's journey. On the "seas of life" it is normal to have a whole variety of experiences, from calm waters on a bright and sunny day to horrific choppy waters with gigantic waves ready to threaten your very existence (like trauma). Then again, it could be something you're born with (like ADHD) that makes steering your life's ship very difficult. Whatever your situation is, I am ready to be your co-captain and help you steer to calmer waters to the port of your choice.

You may look fine on the outside, but inside something feels off. You've gotten really good at pushing through, staying busy, and holding it all together. Most people probably wouldn't guess how much you're carrying. But when things get quiet, you find yourself wondering why you still feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of where your life is headed. You've likely spent a lot of time trying to figure it out on your own. You've thought about it, analyzed it, talked it through, and searched for answers. Yet something still feels unresolved.

Life can be really hard sometimes, but I believe that connection can help anyone get where they want to be. Are you feeling stuck by a trauma? Let’s process why, so we can move you forward. Overwhelmed with pregnancy or motherhood? Let’s work to move through the storm. Anxious? Let’s find the culprit and create tools that will lead to peace. Prioritizing yourself is hard, especially when so often we are used to taking care of others. I see you and I understand; together we can find ways to nurture yourself, find grace, self-compassion and figure out how to live the life you want.

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists
How does cognitive processing therapy work?
A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.

What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?
Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.

How long does cognitive processing therapy last?
CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.

How effective is cognitive processing therapy?
A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
