I specialize in helping adults heal from childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, codependency, and self-esteem issues.
I’m a highly trained somatic therapist specializing in trauma and anxiety disorders. Many of the people who come to see me have always felt a little different, deeply thoughtful, sensitive, and aware, but also frustrated that traditional approaches to healing haven’t fully helped. You may understand your problems intellectually, yet still feel the stress, tension, or anxiety living in your body. Somatic therapy works differently. Instead of only talking about problems, we work directly with the nervous system and the body’s natural capacity to heal.

What does it mean to truly know yourself? To me, therapy isn’t about fitting into a neat, pre-packaged box; it’s about discovering who you are when the old scripts no longer work. I balance an analytical, perceptive mind with a naturally warm, empathetic presence. Together, we will create a space where you can safely unpack your heaviest burdens without fear of judgment, uncovering the deep insights that are already within you. Your well-being is deeply connected to your history, your environment, and your physical body. I also have a particular affinity for working with artists, activists, and other healing professionals.

If you've been through trauma, you know it can shape the way you move through life - how safe you feel, how much you trust, how you show up everyday. Healing doesn't mean pretending everything is fine. It means having a space where your story is honored and you feel seen and respected.

Maybe you're feeling stuck in patterns you didn’t choose, carrying old beliefs that once protected you but are no longer working. Are you looking for clarity, connection, and a way back to yourself? Do you want to understand why you react the way you do, and how to unlearn what isn’t serving you so you can experience relationships, work, and daily life with more agency, ease, and authenticity?

As a psychologist my number one goal is to approach you with acceptance, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. Through my work as a psychologist I have come to believe in the capacity of people to change. I welcome individuals that are questioning why their own attempts to improve the quality of their lives is not working. Often there can be mixed feelings about change. I recognize that change is difficult. I feel that self exploration is a challenge that often requires courage and risk.

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to review my page. My love of helping people began as a young child. I have always been the "go-to" person when family and friends need an ear to listen. As I grew older, my life experiences inspired me to work in the human services field. Upon graduating from college and post-secondary higher education, my passion has been to empower my clients to heal and recover from their past trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and substance abuse. My practice is located in the Central Maryland area currently servicing clients via telehealth and in-person

You've spent years managing what happened to you, and you're exhausted from carrying it. Maybe you keep ending up in the same painful relationship patterns and can't figure out why. Maybe there's a void inside you that nothing seems to fill, or you're still living under the weight of expectations from a community that left you hurt and angry. The things you went through when you were young are showing up in your life right now, in your relationships, your body, your sense of who you are. Part of you knows it's time to stop hiding from them. There is a way to actually heal from this, not just manage it.

Let me help you tell your story. Nietzsche famously said, "To live is to suffer; to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering." I believe that we spend our lives looking for answers and meaning in life, and my passion is helping others untangle their darkest fears, their deepest worries, and emerge feeling both freer and more in control of their lives. I will walk beside you in the darkness--not leading, but guiding with a gentle hand as you move toward a brighter future.

Codependency Therapists
What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
