You don't have to wait until everything falls apart to start therapy. If you're always the one holding it together, but secretly feel overwhelmed, overthink everything, or can't seem to break the same patterns, you're not alone. Therapy gives you a space to finally make sense of it all. A lot of the people I work with are exhausted from always being the strong one or the one everyone leans on. Whether you're navigating grief, trauma, relationship or personality patterns, or constant anxiety, therapy can be a space to stop masking how hard it’s been and work through what’s underneath it all.

I help couples and individuals who are navigating a significant relationship challenge, such as infidelity, and are struggling with thoughts or feelings that interfere with intimate connection. My clients may also be working to reconcile additional stressors that affect their relationships, such as non-traditional sexual interests, mismatched orientations, or ethical non-monogamy. They seek therapy to rebuild trust, manage anxieties, and integrate their authentic selves into the relationship. The therapeutic goals will often reflect my clients' desires to simultaneously take accountability and offer understanding and grace.

You do not need to be unhappy, suffer any more. I would love to support you in no longer believing in negative judgments which cause suffering. I would love to support you in doing somatic work and both observing and directly experiencing any uncomfortable feeling of pain, anger, sadness, fear in your body without the story. You will see how they dissolve in the openness of who you are. You then realize you don't need to avoid any feeling...there is nothing to fear. I would love to support you in discovering the love, peace and joy you already are. You have everything you need, .including all answers, within. You are magnificent!

I work best with highly motivated individuals who are ready to do the work! Life has its ups and downs, and we all have struggles with knowing how to best maintain or get back to "normal". I take a down-to-earth approach with my patients and assess their lives based on what they share with me in our sessions and then we discuss what changes they feel are necessary to achieve the goals they want

I believe every individual has the ability to change their circumstances by focusing on the elements which are within their control. Equally as important, we must learn to let go of situations over which we are powerless. By sharing experiences with another person and working through the obstacles that inhibit the life we desire, it is possible to create a life which allows us to thrive. My goal is to assist you in this process by providing a safe environment where you can be open and honest with yourself.

Your story is threaded with mystery and purpose. Sometimes we journey through dark landscapes of chaos and unraveling. Things happen: an injustice, we loose our job, our health declines, the place we call home disappears like sand between our fingers, we lose the ones we love, or we are betrayed by someone we trusted. Suddenly, we are faced with the shocking absurdity of reality. "I can't believe this is my life! Please, don't let this be my life!" When we are lost, the importance of someone bearing witness to our severely-wounded self is invaluable. I consider it an honor to walk alongside of you and your one, unique story.

I specialize in relationship patterns, anxiety, trauma, attachment, codependency, breakups, and major life transitions.
Maybe you are tired of having the same argument, overthinking every interaction, or feeling disconnected from someone you still care about. You may understand the pattern intellectually but still feel unable to stop repeating it. I work with adults and couples who want more than a place to vent - they want to understand what is happening and learn how to change it.

Codependency Therapists
What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
