“Darkness, the one thing we all understand” (Anastasio/Marshall) “Out of the darkness comes light like a flash” (Matthews) - These two quotes can sum up the beauty of therapy. They tell us that we are not alone and that the struggles we face can be turned into our greatest assets! Our issues consume energy, a lot of it. What if we were able to transform that energy into something desirable? Delving into our thoughts and feelings takes courage but can also shed new light!

It’s not always easy to find someone who understands and listens to you. The first step in therapy is finding someone you can trust with your scariest thoughts and emotions. With support and empathy, we can help you learn new ways to manage your symptoms, relationships or situations that work for you.

My ideal client is someone who is diagnosed with anxiety disorder. These symptoms develop in childhood and are still present through adulthood if not treated. Individuals need to face their fears with the support of a therapist. By trying to remain calm, without becoming overly anxious or having a panic attack. My goal as a therapist is to help them build their self-confidence so they can control their fears and feel secure. I work with clients to remain calm and practice breathing techniques. I build empathy with my clients by explaining that they are not alone in their struggles.

These pattern may show up in romantic relationships, job stagnation, family dynamics, parenting, mood instability, addictive cycles
I provide the space to slow down and begin to make sense of these experiences. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS), we’ll explore the different parts of you that once worked in ways that made sense, but now leave you feeling stuck or reactive. Rather than trying to push these parts away, we’ll work toward understanding them and helping them shift.

You may appear high-functioning on the outside but are desperate on the inside. Maybe you’re carrying trauma, stuck in painful relationship cycles, or battling anxiety, grief, or a deep sense of disconnection. You want clarity, peace, and healing—but more than anything, you want to feel like yourself again. You’re ready to understand the “why” behind your struggles, not just talk about the latest crisis. You’re looking for something deeper—a space to be real, to be safe, and to begin to untangle what’s been holding you back.

In my 30 years of practice I have helped adults, children and teens overcome a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, anger problems and alcohol/drug addictions using traditional (cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy) and non-traditional (Eastern philosophy and meditation, and art therapy) methods. I believe that all people have the ability to help themselves, but sometimes due to overwhelming life circumstances, hardships, and crises; they become "stuck."

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
