It can be difficult to open up and talk about your life stressors to someone you don’t know. Sometimes we can feel unheard or alone and just need someone who can be a helping, nonjudgmental, and listening ear. The hardest part can be finding the words to express ourselves and process what can feel like a jumbled mess and you just need someone to help put the scattered puzzle pieces together to create a beautiful picture. Aristotle said it best, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” I can help with building coping skills, work on effective communication, self-expression, processing trauma/grief, and mindfulness.

It’s not always easy to find someone who understands and listens to you. The first step in therapy is finding someone you can trust with your scariest thoughts and emotions. With support and empathy, we can help you learn new ways to manage your symptoms, relationships or situations that work for you.

My ideal client is someone who is diagnosed with anxiety disorder. These symptoms develop in childhood and are still present through adulthood if not treated. Individuals need to face their fears with the support of a therapist. By trying to remain calm, without becoming overly anxious or having a panic attack. My goal as a therapist is to help them build their self-confidence so they can control their fears and feel secure. I work with clients to remain calm and practice breathing techniques. I build empathy with my clients by explaining that they are not alone in their struggles.

Often clients begin their therapy journey reporting feeling stuck in patterns that cause them distress (ie romantic relationships, job stagnation, family dynamics, parent/child interactions, mood instability, etc). Whether these patterns are a result of known trauma(s), relational wounds, or something else, we can gain clarity about these patterns. We will get to know the parts of you that are seeking change while also getting to know the parts of you who have been working in the same way, often for many years. While I have extensive training in CBT, DBT and other therapy modalities, I solidly use IFS (internal family systems).

I am an out and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community! I am also a pagan therapist who enjoys utilizing tarot, crystals, and brainspotting in my practice. The question I get asked the most is, "isn't pagan evil?" The easy answer is no; pagan is a term used for anyone who does not subscribe to a "traditional" religion. I prefer nature-based practices, and while I am open to working with anyone, I enjoy working with those who are open-minded and looking for a new experience with therapy. If you have questions send me an email I would love to discuss incorporating alternative therapies.

My ideal client is someone who feels overwhelmed and trapped by the pressures of everyday life—whether it’s the demands of work, family obligations, or societal expectations. Often, they carry the weight of past trauma that amplifies these feelings and makes change feel daunting. Despite this, there’s a deep desire for transformation and a longing for a more fulfilling life. They must feel heard and validated as they work through family conflicts and improve their communication skills. They seek practical strategies to cope with their challenges while addressing the impact of their past experiences.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
