Clinical Social Work/Therapist, PhD, LCSW-C, LCADC, NBCCH
Change starts with just one step in the right direction. However, the right direction can be hard to find. Therefore, the very first step often involves asking for help. With help from a compassionate, skilled therapist in a safe environment, internal and external obstacles are removed, balance is established and confidence grows. Then the right direction becomes more clear and the next step is more easily placed. If you are looking to make new steps forward, then I am here for you. With over 25 years of experience as a therapist, I have been able to master a variety of techniques. Therefore, therapy is individually tailored.
I believe that everyone deserves to feel their best. Mental and emotional challenges are barriers to living your best life. I understand it takes courage to take the first steps toward restoring or finding life balance and being the best you. My approach is to create a safe and comfortable environment, enabling my clients to gain personal fulfillment, self-confidence, and enhanced relationships. My genuineness and life experiences contribute to my therapeutic style. Through the therapeutic process, my clients will benefit from my objective and non-judgmental perspective on a problem.
My experiences have varied over the years allowing me to understand many areas of focus. I've worked with children, adults and couples. I've trained to be a Life/corporate coach and I am also extensively trained in alternative dispute resolution. I work part time as a court approved mediator helping separating couples with their custody needs. I practice a here and now approach with the use of Brief Solution Focused techniques.

Do you find yourself wanting more out of life and relationships? Wanting to feel more understood, connected, alive? We're so often taught that it's not OK to be sad, angry, overwhelmed, or dissatisfied. Shame about these feelings keeps us quiet and alone. True strength is having the courage to show up as our authentic, imperfect self. And only when we let others see us can we experience real connection and live wholeheartedly. Whatever your story, it deserves to be heard. When we share our story in a safe space, it becomes easier to own its painful parts so we can gain freedom through letting go--and find healing, meaning, and joy.

I believe in the inherently healing qualities of mutual respect, professional support between counselor and patient. I offer counseling services to my patients that support the unique and private development of effective personal and interpersonal skills, compassionate reasoning, and patient identified goals for thought, feeling, and behavior change. Listening to my patients and discussing with them what is occurring, what has occurred, and/or what they are concerned will occur that obstructs or interrupts their ability to live life fully, with satisfaction, and for some patients with a capacity for true emotional intimacy.

I have always felt drawn to and passionate about maternal mental health issues. I feel that their is so much we don’t openly talk about and so many women suffer in silence. The pressure we are faced with can be overwhelming and it seems like all the advice you get is contradicting. I am here to tell you, you deserve support on this journey, you do not have to do this alone. My hope is I can hold space for you and together we can work on the goals you have for yourself.

I whole-heartedly believe in each individual's unique ability to find their true Self, the person they were meant to become. From a centered existence one is better able to make choices that promote health, supportive relationships, and passionate pursuits. At times, one may find what once was easy has become more difficult. One's emotional and perceptual landscape may become unfamiliar, what one allows others to see may not fit with how one really feels, one's path may become less certain. Therapy provides the acceptance and space with which to find oneself, perhaps for the first time.
