Are you a child, adolescent, college student, young adult, or parent who is struggling with Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, OCD, and/or PANDAS/PANS? If so, you have found the right therapist. I work with children, teens, and parents on issues that impact their everyday life. With a focus on problem solving, coping skills, and social skills, clients discover how to work through their symptoms and best manage their challenges. My treatment uses a "foundation approach" which involves working to find the core issues behind a problem.

Some times life situations and events can knock us off our feet and turn our lives upside down, leaving us to wonder if we can ever recover and put the pieces of our lives back together again. We all have a story and I believe that we all have the ability to rewrite that story. We can choose to be the victim of our circumstances or we can choose to be the victor. All human beings have the inborn tendency toward growth and self -actualization.

When is anxiety normal and when is it time to get help? You can't turn off your brain at night? Are you avoiding situations that make you nervous? Do you not want to get out of bed and face the day? Are you feeling exhausted with by all of the worry? These are the signs that anxiety is taking over your life. But you already know that, right? I'm not telling you anything new. The thing about anxiety is that it does not go away on its own and so often people turn to medication. Unfortunately, medication just numbs the symptoms temporarily, it doesn't make anxiety go away.

Many patients struggle with the fact that they seek therapy. However, I applaud your choice to begin the significant process of self exploration and growth. I believe that in spite of pitfalls and stressors, we are all faced with the opportunity to choose how we live our life. By validating feelings I help my clients fully accept themselves while encouraging and motivating them to do their best. Together we will gain acceptance of the choices that lead you to therapy, then collaboratively develop and implement a plan that will allow you to seek better and more rewarding opportunities.

Recognizing the need to seek therapy is both courageous and difficult. Working with a therapist who is a good "fit" is integral. I enjoy working with clients who are willing to do the work necessary to reap the benefits. I work with people who present with relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma and other daily life issues. I have worked extensively with individuals and families in crisis. I work collaboratively with the client to establish ways to cope with their difficulties in a warm, empathic environment. I am EMDR trained and utilize this modality as appropriate.

I will challenge you, help you with your goals, and focus on safety, support, and progress. I provide therapy to couples who want to resolve difficult issues effectively. I offer psychotherapy to adults and adolescents and promote trust in self so that much of the work continues outside the therapy room. I view 'eating disorders' as expressions, not pathologies and will work with you to find a healthy voice. For anxiety and depression I utilize imagery, relaxation and cognitive approaches while integrating the past as necessary. Please call or email me with any questions.

My client-centered, strength-based approach empowers and motivates my clients to direct the pace and trajectory of therapy. I assist my clients with identifying their goals for treatment, as well as the constraints preventing them from achieving them. As the therapeutic process unfolds, we work together to determine how to remove the constraints—and sometimes explore how they got there in first place. I am knowledgeable about and comfortable with a wide range of therapeutic models and interventions, all of which offer useful tools for understanding how problems originate, as well as how to effect positive change here and now.

You may be struggling with the following questions: What is stopping me from living a fulfilled and balanced life? What is my value/worth? Am I on the right path? Why do I feel anxious for no reason? Why is it difficult for me to adapt to change? Why can't I connect with my partner? The focus of my work is helping individuals and couples develop healthier relationships with themselves and the people in their lives. My philosophy is represented in Steve Marboli's statement: "The power to change your life lies in the simplest of steps".
