Psychotherapy is a powerful tool to help people who have been struggling with anxiety, depression, and dissatisfaction. These struggles may have been recent, or they may reflect traumatic experiences or parts of our lives that have been problematic for many years. Psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy are effective treatment modalities that promote increased self-understanding, symptom relief, and lasting psychological change. As people come to better understand how themselves, they can find new ways to achieve more satisfying lives and relationships.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I have extensive training and experience treating a wide range of difficulties, specializing in the treatment of anxiety, addictions, chronic health issues, grief/bereavement, and shame-based symptoms. I see clients in-person or via telehealth (all Psypact.org states)

I work with clients who struggle with brain fog, irritability, depression, anxiety, difficulty focusing or insomnia and want to explore a natural approach to managing their conditions in addition to (or instead of) medications.
Have you been told ‘you’re fine’ even though you don’t actually feel fine? I get it. That’s because medications often mask symptoms and don't cure the root of the problem. I am a board certified nurse practitioner offering functional lab tests to help you change your life, not just your symptoms. In addition to medications, lab testing helps you uncover hidden nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, gut dysfunction and other factors that may be causing anxiety, depression, brain fog, and difficulty focusing. With a medically supervised plan and professional grade supplements you'll be on the road to really feeling fine.

I specialize in cognitive and behavioral approaches, training in substance use disorders, trauma, chronic pain, sleep disorders, and mindfulness.
I believe mental health care should be viewed just like physical health care, something we all need but in different ways at different times – sometimes an emergency needing acute care or maybe specific ailment, other times you just need a check-up and to check in.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
