Accepting new clients! A certain amount of worrying is normal, right? Anxiety and fear keep us out of harm’s way. However, it no longer serves us when anxiety and fear rule our days and nights, preventing us from living our lives to the fullest. Transitioning through life stages can bring about feelings of distress for all ages. I specialize in working across lifespans - adults, adolescents, & children. I am well trained to address distress built through anxiety, as it correlates to depression, self-esteem, and trauma processing. I can help strengthen confidence in one’s ability to succeed with change.

Accepting new clients! Are you experiencing stressful changes and feeling unsure of how to navigate the unknown? Have you been hit hard by trauma or grief and find it difficult to stand up again? Are you and your partner dealing with issues in your relationship? If so, you've come to the right place. Therapy is not easy, and change is not linear. In a society that says no to vulnerability, therapy is one of the most courageous yet rewarding journeys that one can take. That said, changes are not always the focus of therapy. Sometimes, we need therapy simply because life’s adversities are not supposed to be dealt with alone!

My clients are teens and adults interested in addressing challenges related to anxiety, depression, ADHD and trauma. My clients are willing to do some work between sessions, as they understand that progress does not happen in a vacuum of the therapy room. I enjoy pulling from a variety of treatment modalities but do not necessarily use one specific approach and my clients will be interested in doing the same, along with examining how their lifestyle & behavior may connect to their mental health

I teach the art of connection. Over the past 35 years, as I have studied and treated trauma in various forms and within multiple systems, I have held steadfast to one of many mantras; relationships are the true antidote to trauma. The integrated approach that I utilize may prove effective for those seeking to heal, those seeking to grow and learn, and those seeking to enhance their self, their relationships, their parenting role, or their organization as a whole. Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
