Rapport is critical for the therapeutic setting; without a positive connection, therapy is a difficult road. Therapists should provide a meaningful experience, which includes a safe place to share. I believe I need to provide a nonjudgmental environment to help healing. My role as a therapist is working with clients to improve their insight, identify triggers, manage life’s dilemmas and help them manage their symptoms. The goal is to help clients identify what is needed, be it, love, joy, peace, self-control, self-image and/or happiness, I meet my clients "right where they are" w/o judgment, but with clinical insight & experience.

I received my Bachelors degree in Government & Politics, then worked as a mobile dog groomer for many years and then finally got my Masters degree in Pastoral Counseling which just means I am a regular counselor, but see value in a client's religious/spiritual faith, if they have one, in bringing more tools to the table in order to help them work on issues they have. However, I have worked with plenty of clients who are atheist, searching or do not wish to bring their religion/spirituality into the counseling realm.

For me personally, I find that any client is an ideal client. Every individual has within them their own internal timeline, mechanism, and capacity for change that is inherently correct for them. I do my best to respect this as a clinician. I do ask for an honest accounting of oneself to the best of their ability. If this is successfully reached, then the possibility for healing and moving forward from mental anguish is possible. It is my professional belief that when both the client and the therapist are fully open to the process that the work truly begins.

My clients are often thoughtful professionals who are driven, reflective, and emotionally attuned. Many of them find themselves stuck - such as being overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward, even after years of personal growth. I work with both individuals and couples to navigate anxiety, burnout, and relationship stress through a blend of existential therapy, ACT, and mind-body approaches such as hypnosis. I've completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy Levels 1 & 2, and I integrate its principles combined with attachment theory to help partners communicate with greater clarity, emotional honesty, and compassion.

The focus of my practice is relationship, for couples and individuals, who find themselves stuck in a pattern of hurt and disconnection, unable to shift out. Often repeating a loop: one pushing for connection, one pulling back for air. We start by interrupting that cycle, make sense of it, understand what fuels it and learn to show up differently. Working together, we can learn to communicate clearly, state our needs, and rebuild trust. You can choose to rewrite your relational script for greater joy and connection.

Wouldn't it be great if your therapist didn't just listen to you, but helped YOU listen to yourself? You know, that part if yourself that gets lost among all your responsibilities and commitments and social media and stress and all the things you tell yourself...all that stuff that makes you feel fragmented and overwhelmed. I excel at helping people discover themselves amidst the noise of life. Understanding yourself is the key to getting "unstuck" and moving towards healing, success, and growth.

You may be feeling anxious, stuck, or uncertain about the direction your life is heading. Perhaps you’re navigating a major life change, wrestling with questions of identity, or trying to make sense of patterns that keep repeating. You might look like you “have it all together,” yet inside you feel disconnected or weighed down by stress, expectations, or unhealed pain. Maybe you’re facing a major life transition, feeling stuck in old patterns, or carrying the weight of past trauma. I work with adults who are ready to take a deeper look at their lives and heal from within.

In the safety of the therapeutic relationship, I challenge my clients so we get beneath the surface to gain insight, find greater meaning, grounding, and deeper connection. I specialize in work with men, those experiencing divorce, life transitions, and relationship issues, and religious trauma.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
