Life can bring moments of deep challenge—whether through anxiety, depression, grief, or relationship stress—that leave us feeling overwhelmed or stuck. Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, but it’s also a powerful act of courage and self-care. I’m so glad you’re here and honored to walk alongside you as you move toward healing and growth. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you feel truly heard, supported, and accepted just as you are.

Sometimes support is simply having a place where you can be yourself. I work with children, teens, and adults who experience the world differently, including individuals with Autism, ADHD, PDA, OCD, and a wide range of developmental, cognitive, neurodiverse, and physical disabilities. My approach is affirming and collaborative, grounded in deep respect for each person’s uniqueness, strengths, and lived experience. I support clients across the lifespan, helping children and teens build emotional regulation and coping skills, while supporting adults in reducing overwhelm and navigating identity and life stressors.

My ideal client is someone who is finished with doing the same things over-and-over and expecting different results. My clients are ready and committed to change. I am a hands-on therapist who has seen and experienced a lot in life. These experiences allow me to speak from a voice of understanding and empathy. For best results, my clients should be willing to share, listen and do the homework necessary to achieve the results desired. I also welcome those clients who would like a therapist who is just willing to listen & lend an ear.

I am trained in using CBT, EMDR, and other evidence-based approaches to help people make lasting changes to their self-image that lead to real changes in their lives. My approach is hands on, goal-oriented, strengths based, and gender/identity affirming. I help clients challenge unrealistic patterns of thinking, deconstruct who they are from who they have learned to be, learn how to feel safe and regulated in their body, identify options for difficult life situations that align with their values, and learn the skills to meet their needs e.g. assertiveness, boundary setting, communication, mindfulness, relaxation and grounding.

Are you exhausted by the ways you've been affected by yours or someone else's issues or addictions? Make the choice to get the support you need to turn things around regardless of how tough things may be around you. It takes courage to make changes but most of us need support to be successful at it. For many years working in mental health treatment I've helped individuals, groups and couples follow through on their inclination that the time for them to begin making changes is now.

Not all therapists are able to support you fully when medical or other conditions have caused cognitive decline. This is my specialty. Having worked closely with neurologists, radiologists and many other medical specialties, I can offer you neuropsyc or psych evaluations and brain maps that shed light on problems, and create a treatment plan that really makes a difference. We've helped folks with brain injury or general concerns for cognition, restore memory and attention skills, get to better thinking and reasoning, and enhanced joy in life. I go beyond the limits where others stopped, because rehabilitating brains is my passion.

Feeling comfortable in therapy matters. My style is warm, active, and collaborative, and I’m open and straightforward about how I understand what you’re going through. I’ll often check in to make sure you feel understood. I work best with people who want to look more deeply at their inner world to gain insight and create lasting change in their lives. Therapy is a partnership, and together we work in a safe, nonjudgmental space to support real growth and transformation.

I help LGBTQ clients, or those with chronic illness, or anxiety feel more at home in their bodies and identities.
My ideal client is someone who’s spent years masking, people-pleasing, and wondering why they still feel anxious, disconnected, or stuck. They want to feel more like themselves without apology. They’re tired of shrinking to fit in and ready to explore who they are beneath the expectations. Their goal isn’t to be “fixed”—it’s to feel seen, safe, and real. They want therapy that feels human, collaborative, and maybe even a little funny. They’re looking for a space where they don’t have to explain the basics. I get it—and I’m here for it.

Most of my patients have been dealing with chronic illness and other stressors that have significantly impacted their physical functioning.
My approach is collaborative. I work together with patients to help figure out their goals and work on getting back to functioning. I primarily use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), both of which are skills-based which means they work for almost everyone, even if you don't like to talk about your feelings!

My work is especially helpful for couples and families impacted by chronic illness, caregiver stress, and burnout.
You may be feeling stuck in your relationship, emotionally disconnected from your partner, or exhausted from trying to hold everything together. You might also be navigating family conflict, strained parent-child relationships, or the stress of managing multiple roles within your family system. Communication may keep breaking down, resentment may be building, or you may be at a crossroads about how to move forward—individually, as a couple, or as a family.

Chronic Illness Therapists
How does therapy for chronic illness work?
Many people living with a chronic illness may feel they cannot speak honestly about their experience out of embarrassment or fear of being a burden, or because those close to them do not understand, for example, that they may “look good” even if they do not feel good. Therapy sessions are an opportunity to speak openly with someone who knows their symptoms are not in their head and who can offer practical, proven suggestions for managing feelings of grief, shame, or fatigue, such as techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts about symptoms and develop new ways to respond to them, such as distraction or calming breathing practices.

Can therapy help with physical symptoms of chronic illness?
Yes, especially if an individual with chronic illness has developed depression. People with depression are less likely to maintain their health treatment regimens or to take positive steps to manage physical symptoms when they arise, thereby potentially complicating their medical prognosis. Treatment of depression, through talk therapy, medication, or both, will often improve one’s physical state as it eases the emotional burden of illness.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic illness?
No one living with a chronic illness, or their loved ones, should see depression as an unavoidable result of their condition. Instead, they should actively seek treatment. Research shows that people with depression are less likely to devote the required time and effort to maintaining or monitoring their health, and so therapy to limit the risk of depression can be vital for physical health as well. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction have been found to help individuals reduce stress and anxiety.

How long does therapy for chronic illness take?
There is no set timeline for therapy for people living with chronic illnesses, but many will see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 weekly sessions. Some people feel that they experience progress faster than others but even some who quickly feel improvement may continue with sessions for months or years. Some people may benefit from maintenance therapy if their symptoms change or they experience a decline in physical health. Others find that the skills learned in short-term therapy can be used on an ongoing basis, even after therapy has concluded.
