I'm passionate about working with individuals who have struggled to "fit in" and adapt to intolerable social conditions. My personal background as a late-diagnosed neurodivergent person informs my practice, in which I strive to meet each client where they are, and refer to the client as the expert on their own experience. Meeting you nonjudgmentally in the place where you may feel lost and alone is my top priority. From there, we can collaborate on plans to help you reconnect with what makes your life most worth living.

Life can be complex, difficult, and overwhelming. Maybe you’re here because you’ve hit a wall or feel worn down. Maybe you’re anxious about the tension you see and feel in the world around you. Maybe you're grieving the loss of a person or community that made life feel safe and normal. Maybe you feel completely alone, unsupported, and invisible. I have felt these things, too, and would be honored to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space for you to process, explore, and heal.

I help couples and individuals work out their feels about sex and money-the things we should have but not talk about. You might be looking for help in your marriage or romantic relationship, with sex, with parenting, or in your career. I work with couples and individuals to find change in their relationships, sexuality, healing from trauma, and general dissatisfaction with the status quo. In our work together, we will take a look at the things that are holding you back from living the life you want to be living. I might also tell dad jokes. I will definitely tell dad jokes...

If you are anxious, feel helpless, or overwhelmed, you are not alone. Despite what is happening in the world, we still have to go on, manage our relationships, do our work, and face our fears. Anxiety and depression make it hard to understand how to move forward when you may not have a clear sense of where forward is right now. I take a problem-solving approach, and while not every problem has a quick fix, once you see it for what it is, there is usually a way to quiet the noise and make it better. You have more power than you think.

It's in the past, so why can't I get over it? Am I broken or just doing this to myself? Who even am I now? There's so much suffering in the world, what difference do I make? If you lie awake at night with these racing thoughts, a pit in your stomach, and pressure in your chest, reach out. Life is messy, so bring your full, messy self to therapy. We'll laugh, swear, rage at injustice, and mourn loss together. We'll figure out what's actually behind the humor, intellectualizing, people pleasing, defensiveness, and the things you're ashamed of doing.

Secular and Non-Religious Therapists
What is a secular and non religious approach in therapy?
Secular or non-religious therapy is a theoretical orientation used by many therapists and describes a therapeutic approach that does not rely on any specific religious or faith-based beliefs in the therapeutic process. Secular counselors will often approach therapy with an emphasis on evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients, instead of relying on religious practices, such as prayer or belief in God.

Is secular therapy primarily for non-religious people?
Both religious and non-religious individuals can benefit from secular therapy. People exploring their religious or spiritual beliefs may find it especially useful to work with a secular therapist who is unbiased toward any specific religion. While religious individuals might value the connection and familiarity of seeing a counselor who shares their beliefs, secular counseling can offer them the chance to develop coping skills independent of their religious practice, which can be beneficial in various aspects of their lives.

Can a secular approach to therapy help with religious trauma?
One major reason clients may seek a secular therapist is to process previous religious experiences, including religious trauma. Secular therapists can help clients manage symptoms of the trauma through practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They can also encourage clients through talk therapy or psychodynamic approaches to explore the roots of their religious trauma. Since secular therapists do not have any predetermined religious beliefs, they can be particularly helpful for clients looking to explore their own religious beliefs following a history of religious trauma.

What does non religious marriage and premarital counseling involve?
Marriage and premarital counseling typically involves a couple meeting with a therapist to discuss topics such as planning for marriage, navigating a new marriage, addressing relationship challenges, and developing better communication and conflict resolution skills. Non-religious therapists assist couples in achieving these goals without adhering to specific religious beliefs or frameworks, often emphasizing inclusivity and non-judgment, especially for "nontraditional" couples. However, seeking couples therapy from a non-religious counselor does not mean religious topics are off-limits. In fact, non-religious couples from different religious backgrounds may benefit from a secular therapist who remains neutral toward the beliefs of each partner.
