Welcome! I have been working with children and adolescents, as well as their families, for almost twenty years. I believe strongly that parents want to be the best parents possible but may need help developing the tools to do so. I also think kids want to succeed but don't always know how to do it on their own. I try to make therapy appealing with humor and a down-to-Earth practical approach. In addition to therapy, I also specialize in comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for learning differences and ADHD. I am one of the only clinicians in the Baltimore area who offers the Quotient ADHD Diagnostic Testing System.
Meaningful personal growth and self-efficacy can be realized by any person, couple or family in the face of personal challenges. These can be internal (despair, depression, grief, anger, or anxiety), external (lack of supportive relationships, disharmony), and interactive (blaming, perceptions and reciprocal reactions to each other's behaviors). How well you manage to cope, survive and eventually thrive in the midst of these challenges can be aided by establishing a genuine collaboration with a competent therapist. Teletherapy makes it even easier to select and engage with a licensed counselor who fits your particular needs.

I have worked as a psychologist since 1994, serving adolescents, adults, couples and families, and provided supervision for other psychotherapists. I was research faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Division of Mental Health; and at the University of Miami School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry where I served as the Clinical Director of the Center for Treatment Research on Adolescent Substance Abuse from 1998-2003 treating the whole family. I have experience in treating a diverse population with an understanding of the specific treatment issues of minority populations.
In therapy, there is no "one size fits all!"
I work with adults, adolescents and children on an individual basis on many issues, especially issues of loss, trauma, depression and anxiety. Many people suffering from these issues also develop substance abuse, eating disorders and phobias. I believe therapy is a collaboration of therapist and client to understand and treat the issues that keep you from living the life you want.
