We do this by using culturally sensitive and evidence based practices to help our clients overcome hurts and create new experiences in the context of a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship .
Have you found yourself in the same relationships over and over? DO you feel STUCK in unhealthy relationships with your family and friends? Have you ever said to yourself “How did I get here again?” Do you have difficulty saying “no?” Unhealthy relationships can leave us heartbroken and unfulfilled. We spend countless amounts of energy trying to figure out where we went wrong all to no avail. We become sad, angry, jaded and defeated. Sometimes we give up on relationships all together. It hurts to much to stay and we are too afraid to change. We get stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Therapy can assist with enhancing your relationships with others, and ultimately the relationship you have with yourself.
Life can be challenging and down right unpredictable; there are situations or feelings that can be difficult to manage independently. At times, it can be beneficial to get assistance with maintaining your path to growth and success. My goal is to assist average people with making a positive transition through developing a therapeutic non-judgmental relationship .

I use dynamic, relational, and psychoanalytic approaches with individuals and couples .
Working to solve problems first as a lawyer and now as a psychotherapist with psychoanalytic training, I developed skills in listening and creating solutions. By listening in a neutral, non-judgmental way, I provide a safe, confidential space to understand and resolve challenging issues and relationships at home, at work, or in school. Focusing on your concerns as a team, we develop a working partnership and build on your strengths to increase your understanding and acceptance of yourself and your relationships, and develop positive changes. One of my goals is for you to "graduate" and potentially become your own therapist.

Through a collaborative framework, I work with individuals, couples , families and address issues including: mood problems, anxiety, self-esteem issues, transition for immigrants, relationship conflicts, women’s health, grief/loss, and life transitional difficulties( separation, divorce, college, relocation) I'm dually licensed in MD and DC.
There is nothing like being listened to and understood on a deep level, with genuine interest, unconditional positive regard, congruence, empathy and acceptance. This is what I strive to offer in therapy, as we explore together your hopes and dreams, your losses and regrets, your longings and fears. Many people come to therapy to free themselves from self-defeating patterns, maladaptive behaviors and the legacy of past traumas, so they can be more truly themselves in relation to others and live with greater satisfaction and meaning.

I am also effective helping with anxiety, depression, and difficult life transitions. I specialize in working with those who struggle to be in relationship with others, are seeking a deeper connection with family and loved ones, and individuals who seek to address past experiences and its current impact.
Choosing the path towards better health is a big deal, and you should feel proud of yourself for taking the first step. The path that makes the difference may not always be clear, but I'd like the opportunity to help be your guide. Some may you must be ready for therapy and to open up. I believe that readiness is along a continuum of what you'll need along this path. You'll need willingness, commitment, and some trust among other things. This process is not linear, there will be bumps in the road, their will be bright spots too-and at Two Roads you can participate in choosing the path that's healthiest for your family and for you!

My journey to becoming a therapist started when I was on the other side of the couch as a teen battling anxiety. I got treatment that changed my life. I am here to do the same. Clients describe me as energetic, warm, positive, and non-judgemental. My style is often labeled as gentle and client led. I have a heart for advocacy and am comfortable coordinating with other providers, educational systems, employers, or government agencies. My approach is based on my belief in the power of the therapeutic relationship .

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
