My approach is relational and psychodynamic (rooted in the belief that understanding what has shaped us is key to lasting change).
My ideal clients are individuals, couples, and families ready to do the deeper work of understanding themselves — navigating trauma, PTSD, life transitions, anxiety, mood or personality challenges, or relationship and familial patterns that feel hard to name but impossible to ignore. At Ellie Mental Health, we believe healing happens in relationship. I work collaboratively with each client, tailoring our work entirely to their goals, pace, and identity. I welcome clients of all ages and backgrounds!

My integrative approach combines Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients solve problems, develop essential coping skills, and enhance self-awareness through trauma-focused and psychodynamic techniques.
My focus on cognitive and emotional processing allows clients to replace maladaptive patterns with healthier ones, ultimately decreasing distress related to anxiety, depression, and PTSD. By incorporating mindfulness into our treatment plan, I am able to help clients regulate their nervous systems, improve interpersonal effectiveness

I grew up in a culture that wasn’t accommodating to mental health challenges. People suffered in secret, died in secret, especially with mental health-related struggles. Children are exposed at very tender ages to alcohol, tobacco, illicit drugs, and cigarettes. Even as a child, I imagined there were better ways. This triggered my interest in working in the mental health field. With extensive experience in multicultural sensitive therapeutic skills. I am committed to supporting individuals, couples, families, and groups in developing the right coping skills to better handle challenging life, behavioral, and mental health issues.

If you've been through trauma, you know it can shape the way you move through life - how safe you feel, how much you trust, how you show up everyday. Healing doesn't mean pretending everything is fine. It means having a space where your story is honored and you feel seen and respected.

I prefer to use relational and psychodynamic approaches to therapy, exploring significant relationships and their underlying dynamics.
Telehealth Spots Are Currently Available! Far too many of us are sleepwalking through life because we haven't yet done the important work of understanding ourselves and our relationships. Becoming an integrated, authentic and wholehearted person doesn't happen overnight, but the benefits of this work are enormous. I am passionate about helping people remove the psychological and social barriers that prevent them from flourishing. Anxiety, depression, and addictive behaviors are often symptomatic of underlying issues that can be surfaced with a trusted therapist.

My clinical work encompasses attachment, psychodynamic, family systems, cognitive behavioral, gender-affirming, alternative relationships, trauma-focused, and mindfulness-based modalities.
I specialize in working with neurodivergent folks who were diagnosed later in life and have experienced invalidation trauma in childhood which led to Big "T" traumas. I know that you are doing the best can at all times, sometimes that means checking off all of the things on the to-do list, and other times, that means stumbling out of bed only to use the bathroom. Let me assist you in reconnecting to their needs, preferences, opinions, and desires to live their most authentic life. We will connect in a safe space for you to heal from your past and live the life you deserve.

I tend to use a psychodynamic, person-centered approach in my practice.
Sometimes beginning therapy can feel as though you are entering the unknown. I aspire to create an environment that feels safe, warm, non-judgmental and allows for you to start where you truly are. I use a person-centered approach that promotes insight, self-awareness and helps you learn more about how you see yourself, the world around you, and your relationships. With this insight comes motivation, identification and utilization of strengths, and meaningful, lasting change. I have over 12 years of post-masters experience with diverse populations and am genuinely invested in working with you to realize your goals.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
