I facilitate personal healing, authentic self expression and emotional transformation through a collaborative relationship based on empathy and mutual respect. I have been a therapist for over 20 years and have extensive clinical experience. I use my training in trauma informed, IFS, psychodynamic and attachment perspectives to help transform early trauma and relationship with self and others, to deepen your connection to emotions and to parts of the self. I utilize IFS, AEDP and mindfulness to facilitate the healing of grief, loss, and relational traumatic wounds. I focus on self inquiry and connection of body, emotion and mind.

Hello and Welcome! I feel that simply being present, actively listening, and earning trust is vital to utilizing therapeutic tools during the counseling process I see every person I work with as a unique, resilient individual whose life matters, as well as someone who I may get to know and grow with. As an eclectic counselor, I integrate elements from approaches such as person-centered, cognitive behavioral, psychoanalytic , as well as tuning in to various dialectic/mindfulness exercises. I enjoy working alongside (so-to-speak) adults, young adults, and adolescents in the clinical and community setting.

My clients and I work to identify skills to alleviate or eliminate PTSD and trauma, low self-worth, anxiety, abuse, depression, and difficult life transitions, grief and discrimination. I utilize modalities that combine imagery, mindfulness, spirituality, and cognitive techniques in a structured treatment plan designed to meet each client’s specific treatment needs. I work from a person-centered and relational approach. I note how relationships, especially those you have with yourself, affect how you move in your world. I also utilize a trauma-informed perspective to recognize how things of the past may inform you in the present.

Self esteem issues, body image problems, self worth are all originating from early problems that were never addressed. By going to the core of the problem, we can fix the problem that keeps on weighing on the individual and help them find a solution. Digging deep is somewhat needed to understand where it all came from and find a treatment plan to allow the person to let go of the negative and focus on the positive. It is crucial to keep an open communication module between client and therapist so we can both find the best alternative plan that will fit the client needs. I cover all groups, all ethnicity, all races in all my groups.

Oftentimes we find ourselves struggling to break from long-standing patterns that force us to be rigid in the ways we relate to the world around us and the world within in us. These patterns, which seek consistent expression in our daily lives inhibit us from experiencing true presence during the most precious moments of our existence while hindering our pursuit of success. I work with individuals, couples, and families who seek to free themselves from these damaging patterns so that a more flexible, authentic way of relating to the world can emerge.

Psychoanalytic Therapists

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?

Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?

Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?

Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?

Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
