Not all childhoods are created equally. We all deserve the space and support we need to develop and explore our sense of self, but when you're chronically in survival mode, identity gets deprioritized in favor of safety. If you're noticing yourself feeling held back by your trauma, I want to help you reclaim your life. Our sessions will help you recognize and validate your strengths, confront your problems with gentle accountability, and establish actionable steps towards real change. If therapy seems overwhelming to you, I want you to know we can find ways to make the scary seem approachable and the confusing seem comprehensible.

I commend you for taking an important step on your path to healing. Identifying a provider who meets your specific needs can be both challenging and daunting. However, you have successfully navigated one of the most difficult aspects of this journey, and together we can continue to address obstacles and challenges to achieve optimal mental health and wellness. Life often presents us with challenges that significantly influence our perception and interaction with the world. These experiences, combined with negative emotions, can disrupt our lives and lead to feelings of anger, shame, hurt, disappointment, confusion, or trauma.

Let’s be honest… You’re not broken—you’re just tired of Googling low libido women and wondering why your body didn’t get the memo. Maybe you avoid intimacy and feel guilty, or you’re stuck in your head, unable to feel anything. You might love your partner, but intimacy issues in relationships are making things feel complicated… or just meh. Here’s the truth: your body isn’t the problem—the pressure is. The past might be, too. I offer sex therapy for women who are done performing and ready to reconnect with their body and desire.

Life has become too complicated. Issues concerning relationships, parenting, work, self-confidence/image and identity can become overwhelming. We no longer have the luxury of access to our community or support systems on a daily basis. That is when a therapist, as a professional outsider, can become your best ally and help you navigate through the maze that is life. As a therapist, I will help you identify your own internal strengths and external resources and develop new tools and skills. We will work together as a team to explore your past and how it may be impacting you today.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
