women's issues
, codependency, self-esteem, trauma-related symptoms, anger management, parenting, family conflict, behavioral issues in children, relationship and school issues.
My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that who you are makes sense. With this stance of curiosity and acceptance, I can help you understand the parts of your life that are causing distress and move toward the life you want to be living. I am an ideal fit for clients who want to make a change in their behavior while understanding the way those behaviors have functioned.

Holding space for millennial women to let go of perfectionism, stop people-pleasing, and heal from the past. You feel stuck reliving the past and un-loveable despite "knowing" that you are enough. You've done therapy before but found yourself feeling worse. Does this sound familiar? It's not all in your head. Trauma impacts our perspective and causes us to the see the present through the eyes of the past. This can impact everything from our relationships with friends, to sleep and our performance at work. However, healing is possible if we know how to go about healing it.

**Telehealth Available** I know that you have a "pretty good" life. Perhaps you have done some work in therapy before, and things are finally stable. Yet, you sometimes feel like you are playing a part, rather than embracing and expressing your authentic self. You may feel uncomfortable in your own skin, self-conscious, or like you are not "enough." You may struggle to find your authentic voice and honor your values in your relationships or career. Life circumstances, societal pressures, past trauma, depression, and anxiety can all create obstacles to experiencing inner peace, trust, and confidence.

Whether this be healing from trauma, enduring life transitions, or facing paralyzing tragedy- being fully anchored is where we can find hope. My goal is to compassionately come alongside my clients in a supportive and empowering way. By drawing upon their strengths we will work together to formalize realistic and attainable goals. I believe there is hope for everyone and I feel blessed to intersect with my clients wherever they are in their journey.

Feeling stuck? Not sure of your purpose anymore? At a cross road? This approach is for those desiring strategies to come back into alignment and use obstacles as growth opportunities and self discovery.

Serving Women! Sometimes the thing we need most is to love ourselves and remember who we were meant to be. The closer we get to being who we are meant to be…the brighter we shine. Years ago, I remember asking myself what is joy? I knew happiness, but did I really know and live in a place of joy? That began my quest for a deeper understanding and connection with joy. It is in this moment and in every moment. Joy is a state of being. Joy has been my goal, what is yours? I look forward to being of service to you on your journey to achieving your goals.

One of the most challenging decisions is to seek help and take action to heal ourselves. Taking action, looking deeply and deliberately at ourselves isn't an easy task. Without doing so, nothing changes. Dayna truly believes that every individual deserves to find lasting happiness that comes from within. No one can do this for another. Instead, it is a commitment to oneself. Whether the goal is personal growth, repairing relationships, or overcoming addiction, each person is capable of making the changes necessary to actualize their fullest potential.

When you or a loved one is struggling it can be hard to know where to start in bringing about positive change. It may seem like the strategies you are using to make things better just aren’t working, which can lead to feeling stuck, hopeless and uncertain. I believe therapy should be a collaborative and safe space to work together on better understanding how your thoughts, emotions and behaviors interact, with the goal being to find strategies and solutions that help you to live a life consistent with your values. Specializing in eating disorders and co-occurring disorders, I particularly enjoy working with young adults.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
