I also now offer Immigration Evaluations and psychological evaluations to family who are in the various stages of the immigration process.
Burnout and compassion fatigue are toxic. You deserve better. Let therapy be your safe place to unpack your feelings, hopes, and fears. Let it be a place to explore current or past trauma. Let it be a place to process and heal. If overwhelm is your new normal and you find yourself giving everything you have to others before taking care of yourself, then I can help. If you struggle to set healthy boundaries because you are an empath or highly sensitive person, I can help. Healing from chronic stress is possible, but you must take the first step by seeking help. You will gain confidence, insight, peace & hope throughout this process.

As a Licensed Master of Social Work, I practice individual and family therapy . I aim to create a safe, warm, and authentic environment for you to explore relationship dynamics, anxious tendencies, deep-rooted trauma, or just to say things you never thought you would say out loud. I understand that mental health is a journey, one with many ups and downs, sometimes feeling as if it is a roller coaster that is never-ending. But you are here and that in of itself deserves recognition. Every stage in life, every situation we face, brings with it challenges, hardships and opportunities. The psychotherapeutic process brings focus and awareness to where we are now in our lives, where we've been, and the person we want to be. I see the therapeutic process as a journey that we take together. Whether you are an adult, adolescent, or family , my goal is to create a safe, caring, non-judgmental environment where you can explore relationship dynamics, patterns of behavior, identity, and opportunities for growth and change.

Finding a therapist with whom one can form a trusting working relationship is essential to a successful therapeutic experience, no matter what the issue. I've been in private practice for over twenty years working with adults, adolescents and children in individual, couples and family therapy . I've also worked in community mental health and psychiatric hospitals, as well as medical and psychology training programs. I enjoy working with a broad range of issues. With adults these may include long-standing difficulties with anxiety, depression, loss, chronic emotional or medical illness, as well as relationship issues. Prior to becoming a psychologist I taught both elementary and high school. I've worked extensively with youngsters of all ages, as well as their parents, to address developmental, emotional and parenting challenges specific to these age groups. My work is grounded in a psychdynamic understanding of the individual. This informs my choice of the particular treatment approach I might suggest. I have training and experience in insight oriented, cognitive-behavioral, and emotionally-focused treatment. If you feel I might be helpful, please contact me.

The greatest gift we can give ourselves and our family is happiness, peace of mind, and fulfillment.
Life not turning out the way you wanted? Is your workplace full of stress and frustration? Worried about your children or is your home-life more challenging than expected? As someone who has juggled their family /personal life with their corporate work-world for over 20 years, and has mentored/coached parents and kids, for the past 13 years, I get it! Even though we are strong and resilient, we experience the struggles and emotions of everyday life. Instead of just “coping” your way through life, reach out to someone who genuinely relates and can help you live the life you always dreamed.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
