I work from a psychodynamic, family systems, relational framework.
Are you a burned out parent who is desperately trying to parent the "right" way, but you feel exhausted, defeated, anxious, and depressed? Does your own childhood trauma pop up, threatening to derail you as you navigate parenting? Is it hard to take care of yourself while taking care of everyone else? Do you wonder how in the world life might get just a little bit easier? Now more than ever, families are feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. I believe that pain and shame die when shared and that there is hope for being able to heal.

The Journey Begins Here... I have found, for my patients and myself, that life is a series of adjustments. Some adjustments are small, smooth and easy, and we may even feel grateful for the new direction on our path. Some of these adjustments are overwhelming. They knock us to our knees, and we feel we may never get up again. Most are somewhere in between.... Whatever challenges bring you to seek counsel, rest assured there is help to adjust and navigate the road ahead.

Please note: morning & midday availability only .......... Change is not easy. Whether you're needing to experience relief from anxiety, depression, past trauma, or a current difficult situation, counseling can help bring us out of stagnation and onto the path of change in a compassionate and non-judgmental atmosphere. I enjoy helping people identify what thoughts and behaviors are helpful in building satisfying lives and which may have once proved useful, but no longer work for them. Taking small steps, while being kind to ourselves when we make mistakes, can create the kind of change that we want to see in our lives.

I’m a highly trained somatic therapist specializing in trauma and anxiety disorders. Many of the people who come to see me have always felt a little different, deeply thoughtful, sensitive, and aware, but also frustrated that traditional approaches to healing haven’t fully helped. You may understand your problems intellectually, yet still feel the stress, tension, or anxiety living in your body. Somatic therapy works differently. Instead of only talking about problems, we work directly with the nervous system and the body’s natural capacity to heal.

I pull from mindfulness, psychodynamic, DBT, IFS, CBT, and somatic theories to help personalize each person's treatment and plan.
If you are stuck and caught up by your feelings or it seems like there are different pieces of yourself that are pulling you in different directions, you are not alone. So many of us find it difficult to manage the big life changes that come our way and, along with them, big and strong emotions. However, it's not something that you have to go through on your own - working with a highly qualified therapist to process what is going on in your life can be a great next step.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself or your relationships? You may be navigating anxiety, trauma, or a major life transition and finding it hard to feel grounded or at ease. Perhaps old patterns are resurfacing, or you feel restless, emotionally exhausted, or unsure how to move forward. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin, just a willingness to explore what’s coming up and why.

His approach to working with children, adolescents, adults and families, is to start with where the individual is, and to bring to bear psychodynamic principles, within a supportive, open space encouraging insight and healing.
I have developed a meditation-based psychotherapy model which I call Zensight therapy. Interested individuals will be able to learn effective methods for attaining a deeply calm mind, which can then be put to use to work on personal issues in a powerful way.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
