You don’t have to wait until things feel really hard to start therapy. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just not quite yourself lately, you’re not alone. Therapy is a supportive space to talk things through, feel heard, and find ways to make life feel a little more manageable. I strive to create a supportive, compassionate space where you feel heard and understood. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or life transitions, therapy is a place where you can show up exactly as you are and begin making sense of what you're experiencing.

The Journey Begins Here... I have found, for my patients and myself, that life is a series of adjustments. Some adjustments are small, smooth and easy, and we may even feel grateful for the new direction on our path. Some of these adjustments are overwhelming. They knock us to our knees, and we feel we may never get up again. Most are somewhere in between.... Whatever challenges bring you to seek counsel, rest assured there is help to adjust and navigate the road ahead.

Seeking out therapeutic services is healthy for our mind/body/soul connection. Just as we go to the gym to keep our bodies healthy, or puzzles to keep our mind sharp, we go to therapy to keep our connection between our mind/body/soul. Further, relationships are the center of connection: how we relate to others (family, friends, coworkers,) and the relationship we have with ourselves. It is my privilege to sit with you (or your family members) while we navigate the roadblocks and successes that make your life experience uniquely yours. It is my hope that in through this exploration and work, we can improve your relationships.

Hello and welcome! In my practice, I provide a supportive space for individuals from adolescence through adulthood. Life often hands us stress that over time, or rather abruptly, can disrupt our sense of calm. We can get stuck, lose track of who we are and what is important to us. By working together, we can explore individual needs, strengthen awareness, challenge obstacles, and build skills to promote wellbeing.

Many of the people I work with are carrying more than others can see. Could be anxiety that won't quiet down, anger that keeps surfacing, wounds from the past, or pain from communities that were supposed to be safe. Whether you're a young adult figuring out who you are or an older adult navigating a new chapter, you don't have to carry it alone. My approach starts with a real relationship: you'll feel heard, understood, and respected — never judged. From there, we work together, using proven tools like DBT, to help you accept where you are, change what's keeping you stuck, and take back control of your life.

I weave together various treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT,) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to help meet clients with an approach tailored to their individual experience. I have a background working with mood disorders, anxiety, and trauma work within an adult partial-hospitalization program, ensuring evidence-based treatment for patients stepping down from an inpatient stay or those in need of more intense treatment. I also have experience in both individual and group therapy settings and deeply appreciates the unique benefits both can offer.

Many of my clients are adults quietly carrying doubt, shame, or anxiety they've never felt safe saying out loud — often rooted in their faith background, but sometimes just in being human. The gap between who you were told to be and who you're becoming can be exhausting and isolating, whether or not religion is part of your story. Using attachment-informed therapy and ACT, I help people understand what's driving their distress, loosen the grip of shame, and reconnect with their values and sense of self.

I do therapy backwards. I help people first find acceptance of what's challenging them, and focus on making that feeling of discomfort feel safe. I believe that allowing the experience of the full range of human emotions is key to reclaiming and strengthening our emotional resiliency. We can accept the presence of discomfort and feel joy, while identifying and making changes based on who we want to be or know we are. My therapy practice is based in an understanding of the nervous system, mindfulness, and the ways we all experience and react to trauma and distress.

Wouldn't it be great if your therapist didn't just listen to you, but helped YOU listen to yourself? You know, that part if yourself that gets lost among all your responsibilities and commitments and social media and stress and all the things you tell yourself...all that stuff that makes you feel fragmented and overwhelmed. I excel at helping people discover themselves amidst the noise of life. Understanding yourself is the key to getting "unstuck" and moving towards healing, success, and growth.

I believe counseling should focus on supporting the client in building a life worth living. Only you know what life "fits" you best, but it is helpful to have someone along for that journey, to point out lessons along the way! My goal is to help you identify what in your life keeps you stuck, what roles and values fulfill you, and to minimize the former while maximizing the latter. What kind of life "fits" you? Let's find out! "The shoe that fits one person pinches another; there is no recipe for living that suits all cases." -Carl Jung. www.invisiblethreadcounseling.com

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
