Seeking out therapeutic services is healthy for our mind/body/soul connection. Just as we go to the gym to keep our bodies healthy, or puzzles to keep our mind sharp, we go to therapy to keep our connection between our mind/body/soul. Further, relationships are the center of connection: how we relate to others (family, friends, coworkers,) and the relationship we have with ourselves. It is my privilege to sit with you (or your family members) while we navigate the roadblocks and successes that make your life experience uniquely yours. It is my hope that in through this exploration and work, we can improve your relationships.

I work with clients from the perspective of adult attachment research. Engaging treatment from an attachment theory perspective has enabled me to see that flexibility is critical and it’s important to meet clients where they are to help achieve healing. I understand the therapeutic experience to be a collaborative and co-constructed experience that must be continually evaluated. I am an integrative therapist, primarily drawing from Interpersonal, Relational/Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies.

As a therapist who works with individuals who, on paper, are doing fine but in real life feel exhausted, I see how much can be carried quietly. Many of my clients are managing anxiety, trauma, PTSD, or substance use while still meeting expectations at work and in relationships. They’re looking for a trauma-informed therapist who won’t judge their coping or avoid hard conversations about sex, stress, or patterns that aren’t working. They want emotional clarity, practical tools, and meaningful change that truly lasts.

If you’ve experienced trauma or PTSD and it still affects your daily life—feeling on edge, experiencing intrusive memories, avoiding reminders, struggling with sleep, or feeling emotionally “shut down”—you don’t have to carry that burden alone. Therapy should feel safe, practical, and supportive. I provide a nonjudgmental space where you can be heard and respected as we work toward real relief and long-term healing. I specialize in treating trauma and PTSD, anxiety, and depression in preteens, teens, and adults, and I also work with couples and families when stress and conflict are affecting relationships.

It is not easy being young, I know, I have been there. It can be painful when no one will listen or care about your problems, they have their own. As a native of Baltimore City, graduate of Baltimore City Schools and a retired Counselor of Baltimore City Schools, I believe I have the expertise to help others conquer obstacles in life. At the Gallery of Minds, we will listen and care. You'll learn how to cope and overcome peer pressure, bullying, anger, depression, trauma and more. Intervention Therapists
How does an intervention work?
An intervention is a planned, structured meeting in which a person’s family or friends voice concerns about the person’s behavior and its consequences; the goal is for the person to accept treatment. In this meeting, the person’s loved ones (often with the guidance of a trained interventionist) share how the person’s behavior has harmed them and the consequences if the person refuses treatment. They collectively ask the person to accept a proposed treatment plan.

How effective are interventions?
There isn’t extensive research on the efficacy of interventions, in part because success is difficult to measure. Individuals often enter addiction treatment after an intervention, for example, but treatment itself may not work, especially if the person only begins due to external pressure from others rather than due to internal motivation to change. However, if all other attempts at helping someone have failed, an intervention may be worth exploring.

What are the limitations of interventions?
While a friend or family member’s intentions are in the right place in wanting to help a loved one through an intervention, there are significant limitations to the approach. The surprising nature of the event can make the person feel ambushed or judged. They may feel embarrassed or ashamed as a result, and relationships may be strained or broken. This can make it difficult for the individual to be receptive to the concerns of their loved ones and the interventionist.

Are there alternatives to interventions?
Rather than confronting a loved one through an intervention, an effective and less pressured approach is to create space for a caring, open, one-on-one conversation. This works best if the loved one asks open-ended questions, listens attentively to the answers, and frames their observations and statements with concern rather than judgment. More than one conversation may be needed, but change can take root over time.
