My ideal client would put as much effort as they are ready to in that moment, day, or week to continue prioritizing their mental health needs. Over time, I hope to support each person in identifying what is helpful vs. harmful to their overall well-being. I look forward to supporting individuals navigating life transitions, women's issues, those in need of validation and perspective-taking, struggling with anxiety, searching for answers and healing from traumatic experiences, feeling "stuck," and individuals hoping for support with executive functioning challenges, sensory challenges, or complex social interactions.

Often, we believe others are worthy of love, but we are not. Sometimes, our experiences in our lives lead us to think that we are unloveable; we believe that we deserve this and come to the conclusion that we are unloved. These experiences led us to believe we are no longer safe for connection. This is a lie. I would like to invite you to an inverse of the golden rule: Do unto yourself as you would do unto others. I welcome anyone who wants this, who doesn't know how to live like this, and/or who is skeptical that this is possible. I believe we are made to become wholly the best version of ourselves.

I also draw upon IFS, focusing on internal connections and self-compassion.
I enjoy working with children, adolescents and families. Most of my experience has been with younger clients facing anxiety, behavioral issues, depression and anger management. I believe it is important for me to have a collaborative professional relationship with each client so that we can collectively meet the client's needs. I prioritize creating a secure environment using principles from Art Therapy, allowing expression beyond words.

I utilize techniques from attachment theory, internal family systems, and the EGALA model.
Are you a young adult struggling with forming your identity? Are your core beliefs shifting away from the religion in which you were raised? Maybe finding your career or your 'people' has been harder than you thought and you're feeling alone? I want to meet you. I am a therapist with lived experience from cult recovery and spiritual abuse. Leaving an abusive organization or community can be one of the most damaging and difficult experiences an individual can endure. I'm here to tell you you're not alone. I use holistic approaches, including equine assisted psychotherapy, to assist you with building autonomy and resilience.

I apply trauma informed interventions such as Internal Family Systems ( IFS) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
Welcome! If you struggle with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma or relationship issues, I can help! For many years, I have been supporting adults, veterans, seniors and couples. I help men and women that are struggling with loneliness and are seeking help managing their anger and other difficult emotions. I listen carefully and compassionately to your special needs and consider them in the context of your experience and present situation; a holistic approach that recognizes both your current needs and their roots. Often these roots are cultural, a fact I know because my own life spans several cultures.

I use a cognitive approach as well as internal Family Systems within my therapy sessions.
I firmly believe that therapy is most effective when clients bring their authentic selves to the process. To facilitate this, I strive to create a welcoming and safe environment where individuals can express their truths without fear of judgment.

I love Internal Family Systems (like from Inside Out!) and it shapes my entire worldview.
Are you suffering from anxiety, depression, or trauma and are looking for someone who not only won't judge but understands the kinky, polyam/ENM, and/or queer experience? Are you experiencing family building struggles, either due to social or medical infertility (or both)? Or are you someone who has a chronic illness like POTS, Ehlers-Dahnlos Syndrome, or migraines? Nobody should have to live with the pain of shame, sadness, worry, or mistrust that comes from having survived traumas. Imagine living without your triggers, anger, and panic attacks, and living with excitement, pleasure, and motivation again.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
