My specialty area is grief and loss.
The Journey Begins Here... I have found, for my patients and myself, that life is a series of adjustments. Some adjustments are small, smooth and easy, and we may even feel grateful for the new direction on our path. Some of these adjustments are overwhelming. They knock us to our knees, and we feel we may never get up again. Most are somewhere in between.... Whatever challenges bring you to seek counsel, rest assured there is help to adjust and navigate the road ahead.

My specialty areas include depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, chronic pain/health problems, women's issues, relationship issues, grief, & codependency.
When facing challenging times, therapy can provide a safe place to talk about those challenges. I am happy to announce the addition of the newest staff member, Kenny, a certified therapy dog whose presence helps create a safe space. My goal is to help clients achieve their own "zen" state by learning how to recognize, access, & trust their own intuition. I view therapy as part of one's wellness journey. I enjoy working with adults on a range of issues, including depression, anger, parenting issues, career, communication, addiction, grief/ loss, anxiety and more.
It’s easy in life to lose ourselves, to feel overwhelmed and stuck. Issues that arise from work, family, environment and even our inner self can leave people feeling angry, sad, frustrated or even numb. Sometimes people repeat patterns and behaviors that they know aren’t helpful, but then get stuck as they are unsure of how to change or even begin the process to heal.

I am certified as a perinatal mental health therapist and have worked with moms with a various of concerns including OCD, anxiety, depression, identity confusion, grief, navigating partner challenges (default parent, resentment, communication), and boundary setting.
When you enter your motherhood experience there are often feelings of uncertainty, guilt, frustration, confusion, anxiety, and sadness. The rollercoaster of emotions is common, but does not have to be your "forever" as a parent. Many of the moms I meet with are searching for a place where they can feel validated, but also want actionable steps they can use to improve their thinking patterns (negative self talk, self doubt, inner critic, intrusive thoughts), and their also manage their feelings about becoming a mom. You deserve to feel better and feel confident as a mom!

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
