When you enter your motherhood experience there are often feelings of uncertainty, guilt, frustration, confusion, anxiety, and sadness. The rollercoaster of emotions is common, but does not have to be your "forever" as a parent. Many of the moms I meet with are searching for a place where they can feel validated, but also want actionable steps they can use to improve their thinking patterns (negative self talk, self doubt, inner critic, intrusive thoughts), and their also manage their feelings about becoming a mom. You deserve to feel better and feel confident as a mom!

Often, we believe others are worthy of love, but we are not. Sometimes, our experiences in our lives lead us to think that we are unloveable; we believe that we deserve this and come to the conclusion that we are unloved. These experiences led us to believe we are no longer safe for connection. This is a lie. I would like to invite you to an inverse of the golden rule: Do unto yourself as you would do unto others. I welcome anyone who wants this, who doesn't know how to live like this, and/or who is skeptical that this is possible. I believe we are made to become wholly the best version of ourselves.

I am trained in ERP, CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, yoga, and other evidence-based treatment modalities, though I do not believe that any of these are "one size fits all".
If you are a teen or adult who is ready to dig deeper than coping skills and self-care, you are in the right place. If you want to learn why you feel the way you feel, think the way you think, and how to feel better able to manage life's stressors, this is the therapy practice for you. I also work with parents who want to gain a better understanding of their anxious and/or neurodiverse child or partner. (If you email me via this platform, please check your spam folder for a response - I usually respond within 2 business days and have received feedback that those emails tend to get send to spam)

In therapy, I will teach you the root causes of why symptoms of anxiety are seemingly taking over your life, establish personal treatment goals toward attaining serenity and inner peace in your life, and provide therapeutic relief using evidence-based interventions including Exposure and Response Prevention ( ERP) known to decrease your symptoms of anxiety.
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States. Anxiety can be significantly disabling and negatively impact our mood and quality of life. It's not uncommon for someone with an anxiety disorder to also suffer from depression. You are tired of experiencing symptoms of anxiety including intrusive, racing, and ruminative thoughts that seemingly don’t stop, feeling on constant edge, and worrying all the time. You may also feel anxiety present itself as uncomfortable sensations in your body. You, however, have already made the most courageous step which is to look for a solution.

I use evidence-based approaches like Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention ( ERP), and CBT to help you build a life that feels more aligned with who you are.
Hi, I’m Bethanie – and I’m really glad you’re here. If you’re living with OCD or identify as neurodivergent, you’ve probably been told—maybe more times than you can count—that you’re “too much,” “too sensitive,” or “too stuck in your head.” I want you to know: you are not too much. You are human, and you deserve a space where you can be understood exactly as you are.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?

Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?

While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?

The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
