Through client-centered practices such as: Talk Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Creative Therapy ( art, music, narrative), and Dialectic Behavioral therapy we can navigate the relationship within yourself and with others.
Seeking out therapeutic services is healthy for our mind/body/soul connection. Just as we go to the gym to keep our bodies healthy, or puzzles to keep our mind sharp, we go to therapy to keep our connection between our mind/body/soul. Further, relationships are the center of connection: how we relate to others (family, friends, coworkers,) and the relationship we have with ourselves. It is my privilege to sit with you (or your family members) while we navigate the roadblocks and successes that make your life experience uniquely yours. It is my hope that in through this exploration and work, we can improve your relationships.

You might be carrying more than anyone around you knows. The weight of surviving, of showing up, of holding your family together while quietly coming apart inside. Maybe you've been stuck in the same patterns for years, or struggling to feel at home in your own life. That disconnect is real. And it doesn't have to stay.

Sometimes growing up presents challenges that parents, teachers and caregivers are not sure how to manage. Children can present with developmental delays, social emotional delays, exposure to trauma, or environmental and family situations that overwhelm them and turn childhood into a challenge. Through individual or family therapy, onsite consultation in the school or child care setting, and home visits as needed, a comprehensive plan and approach can support the child, and those caring for the child so growth and success are achieved. Early intervention can result in changes that last a lifetime !

Welcome! I’m so glad you're here. I believe most people can benefit from the support of a nurturing, therapeutic environment. I’ve never met anyone who has said they have too much support in their life. I would be honored if you allow me into your life, and we can work toward developing the support you need.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
