Congratulations!, on taking the first step to healing and growth. The relationships that we have with our families, friends and peers etc., vastly impact the ways that we view the world and how we cope with our difficulties. As we experience difficult times in our lives, it is easy to feel alone and feel like others cannot understand. I seek to be a source of support during those times. Working to build healthy relationships is a joint effort. If you are willing to BELIEVE, you will begin to ACHIEVE and ultimately RECEIVE all that is meant for you. You have what it takes and I will support you all the way. HOPE is on the Way!

How we respond or react to people, places or things both personally and professionally, can be traced back to our past, past hurts, past experiences, past trauma, etc., they are also indicators of whether we are surviving or thriving. The unhealed parts of our past, impact our ability to respond while thriving, causing reactions in order to survive, how are your unhealed parts showing up? In 2018, I graduated with a Master of Social Work degree concentrating in Public Health, from Morgan State University in Baltimore Maryland. As a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C), I have been in private practice for 4 years now.

Some may be navigating life transitions such as relationship challenges, grief, parenthood, or career stress. You are the person who exudes competence, effectiveness and power. Your most likely the individual who is high achiever within your family, community and/or your profession. Secretly though, you feel like your just winging it. Everyone sees Your success… no one sees the Sacrifice that it took to get there. You're a deep thinking POC professional who needs a relationally psychodynamic approach so you can discover a new way to relate to yourself and others. You want to find your footing in life and stop hedging, fumbling and running into a dead-end.

For over 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of becoming a resource in thousands of people’s lives, which is a responsibility I hold with deep reverence. I approach each individual with profound respect for their unique layers and complexities, and I consider it a sacred process to gently witness and support their unfolding. This work has also been a mirror for my own growth, both spiritually and psychodynamically. Because of this, I understand that healing is not a quick fix, but a commitment. I’m passionate about helping people shift from patterns of limited thinking into a state of greater empowerment and self-compassion.

Everyone has a story. Sometimes life becomes overwhelming. Relationships become difficult, or we simply find ourselves struggling to understand why we feel the way we do. Therapy can provide a place to slow down, feel heard and begin to make sense of our issues. I work with adults and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship and parenting concerns, work on financial stress or other life challenges. My goal is to create a supportive comfortable environment where we can work together toward the changes you want to make.

I utilize a wholistic approach to psychotherapy. I am interested in helping families heal from disagreement, emotional pain, trauma, loss and change through the use of individual, couples, family, and group therapy. I believe that each one of us has a strong inner voice that we need to find and connect with in order to be well. When difficult feelings surface, our energy or connection to ourselves and others can become weakened and we feel drained or blocked from living to our fullest potential. I am eclectic in my approach. I seek to assist clients to understand their true potential.

I specialize in sexual abuse/assault, grief/loss, life transitions, and crisis intervention.
Are you a caregiver of a child who has experienced a trauma and you don't know how to support them? Would you like support in navigating some changes you've noticed? Perhaps you have seen disturbed sleeping patterns, changes in appetite, regression to more infantile behaviors, and changes in academic performance. As a caregiver, navigating your child's trauma experience can leave some uncertainty and may have you feeling alone. The trauma experience that your child encountered is not meant to be done alone and requires a village, allow me to be a part of that village. Is your child resistant to doing therapy?

Intervention Therapists
How does an intervention work?
An intervention is a planned, structured meeting in which a person’s family or friends voice concerns about the person’s behavior and its consequences; the goal is for the person to accept treatment. In this meeting, the person’s loved ones (often with the guidance of a trained interventionist) share how the person’s behavior has harmed them and the consequences if the person refuses treatment. They collectively ask the person to accept a proposed treatment plan.

How effective are interventions?
There isn’t extensive research on the efficacy of interventions, in part because success is difficult to measure. Individuals often enter addiction treatment after an intervention, for example, but treatment itself may not work, especially if the person only begins due to external pressure from others rather than due to internal motivation to change. However, if all other attempts at helping someone have failed, an intervention may be worth exploring.

What are the limitations of interventions?
While a friend or family member’s intentions are in the right place in wanting to help a loved one through an intervention, there are significant limitations to the approach. The surprising nature of the event can make the person feel ambushed or judged. They may feel embarrassed or ashamed as a result, and relationships may be strained or broken. This can make it difficult for the individual to be receptive to the concerns of their loved ones and the interventionist.

Are there alternatives to interventions?
Rather than confronting a loved one through an intervention, an effective and less pressured approach is to create space for a caring, open, one-on-one conversation. This works best if the loved one asks open-ended questions, listens attentively to the answers, and frames their observations and statements with concern rather than judgment. More than one conversation may be needed, but change can take root over time.
