It's in the past, so why can't I get over it? Am I broken or just doing this to myself? Who even am I now? There's so much suffering in the world, what difference do I make? If you lie awake at night with these racing thoughts, a pit in your stomach, and pressure in your chest, reach out.
Life is messy, so bring your full, messy self to therapy. We'll laugh, swear, rage at injustice, and mourn loss together. We'll figure out what's actually behind the humor, intellectualizing, people pleasing, defensiveness, and the things you're ashamed of doing.

If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or questioning how much longer you can keep giving without receiving support, you're not alone. Together, we can create a space where your voice is heard and your needs are honored. Many of the women I work with are navigating life in a new country, managing expectations from their spouse, children, and in-laws, often with little time or energy left for themselves. The pressure to do everything “right” can be exhausting — especially when you don’t feel seen or understood. If this sounds familiar, please know that there is hope and change is possible.

I work from the assumption that we are all doing the best we can, with what we know, and with the resources available to us. Therapy is the ideal place to expand our understanding of ourselves and add to the skills that keep us resilient during life’s challenges. It takes tremendous bravery to be vulnerable enough to examine our deepest beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. A normal, protective fear pops up whenever we consider asking the hard questions because there is so much uncertainty: What if I can't handle it? What if I’m judged and the shame is unbearable? What if I'm no longer needed? What if it never ends?

I believe my purpose is to help families, couples, and individuals engage in healthy relationships with themselves and others. I help my clients identify psychological, emotional, and spiritual barriers to mental wellness. I support my clients through the process of defining who they are and who they want to become in relationship with family, partners, friends, or colleagues. I collaborate with my clients as they embrace opportunities to be transformed. Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
