It's in the past, so why can't I get over it? Am I broken or just doing this to myself? Who even am I now? There's so much suffering in the world, what difference do I make? If you lie awake at night with these racing thoughts, a pit in your stomach, and pressure in your chest, reach out. Life is messy, so bring your full, messy self to therapy. We'll laugh, swear, rage at injustice, and mourn loss together. We'll figure out what's actually behind the humor, intellectualizing, people pleasing, defensiveness, and the things you're ashamed of doing.

I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ clients, eating disorders and disordered eating, body image, neurodiversity (including autism, ADHD, and executive functioning challenges), stress and burnout, perfectionism, sex and intimacy concerns, and general mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and grief.
My style is warm, laid-back, and collaborative, while also honest and depth-oriented. I’m easy to talk to, but I’m not a “smile and nod” therapist — I’ll ask thoughtful questions, gently challenge unhelpful patterns, and help you notice the relationship dynamics and emotional themes that may be keeping you stuck.

You may be reaching a point where old roles no longer fit: scapegoat, caretaker, emotional stabilizer, or “the strong one.” What follows can feel disorienting, including grief, anger, relief, and a growing refusal to contort yourself for systems that relied on your silence. I work with adults who are ready to step out of survival roles and into sovereignty—people who want to understand how they adapted, not stay stuck retelling what hurt. Many of my clients are navigating estrangement, enmeshed family systems, complex trauma, identity shifts, or the consequences of choosing themselves for the first time.

Saturday and Nighttime appointments. Welcome. I’m an LCSW-C practicing in Maryland, and I earned my MSW from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in Baltimore. With almost 40 years of experience in mental health settings, I bring a warm, thoughtful, and grounded approach to helping people better understand what they need and where to begin. Having worked in mental health across several decades, I’ve seen the field become both richer and more complex. There are now many more kinds of therapists, areas of specialization, and approaches to care than most clients know how to sort through on their own.

Navigating life’s ups and downs can be as much a challenge as it is a privilege. The support of a caring presence outside your circle of daily influence can help. I support clients addressing the impact of toxic relationships, dysfunctional systems, institutional betrayal, and structural oppression. Together we will identify paths forward and, as you are ready, take meaningful action to increase your access to comfort and ease. My career path affords me nuanced understanding of higher education, law, healthcare, and the impact of institutional investigations.

Ready to try something different? You've tried traditional talk therapy and have felt better, but still find yourself feeling stuck in the same thought patterns or going back to old behaviors. I help adolescents and overwhelmed adults process complex trauma using brain-body and alternative therapies. Complex trauma refers to "little t" traumas that compound throughout our life- from difficult childhood experiences to stressful life events. I especially enjoy working with adult children of emotionally immature parents.

As a queer/pan and neurodiverse therapist, I often work with young people with marginalized identities, especially queer, neurodiverse, or disabled young people, who are navigating a world that was, in many ways, not built with them in mind.
It is extremely important to me to create a welcoming and affirming space in my therapy practice, one that respects and embraces peoples’ individuality, life experience, and culture. I am trans, polyamory, and ace/aro affirming, and I practice from a body positive/body liberation/health at every size (HAES) perspective.

We might be a good fit for one another if you're queer, poly, considering recovery, interested in a somatics based practitioner, and vibe with crystals and energy.
As a trained addictions counselor, I work with people who are experiencing emotional pain and want it to stop. We find that pain in a variety of ways and the suffering feels completely overwhelming. I get it. I overstand. Let's turn and face that something inside of that desperately wants to be healed.

LGBTQ+ Therapists
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
