Finding the "right match" in a therapist can feel impossible. Whether it's your first time looking, or even when it's your second, third, or fourth time after another not-so-great experience. Failed attempts can lead to feeling uneasy of making more attempts, and counseling may feel less attainable or even worse… increase stress. I believe therapy works well when it is a collaborative process. Finding a therapist you trust is key, as I see the relationship between therapist and client as the foundation for authentic growth. Therapy is most beneficial when people feel safe and challenged.

My passion for counseling includes but is not limited to couples , families, and individuals with depression or stress related challenges.
All of us go through struggles and challenges in life but we don’t have to let them define who we are as individuals. I am privileged to be able to hear the stories of couples and individuals who have had their share of challenges. Being an excellent active listener will be an essential role I will play on our journey of mindfulness, self-care, and the expression of feelings. My most important goal for my clients is to provide a safe judgment free space to work through those difficult challenges while encouraging growth.

I work with adults, adolescents, and couples .
I believe that people are naturally resilient. Therapy offers an opportunity to boost resilience by nurturing awareness and finding greater strength and fulfillment. Most of us have found ways to manage stress, but the things that worked in the past might not work today. We often feel stuck. I seek to provide a space for observation, reflection, and exploration so that new narratives and choice can emerge. Understanding linkages between early, implicit learning experiences, including attachment patterns, and present modes of thinking and behaving is key to sustainable growth and change. Together we'll address your personal goals.

Past is overwhelming or the future seems frightening? Let's partner together to help you focus on the present.
Most therapy sessions emphasize ‘coping’ instead of overcoming symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression. I emphasize overcoming and not merely coping. If you're an individual or family who values your time, let's focus on real growth today. Young adult looking to manage symptoms of anxiety & depression due to childhood experiences, career, relationship , or life transitions? Parents of kids ages 5 and up who have noticed changes in your child's mood or academic performance? Let's address supportive solutions during our first session. In person sessions open Autumn 2023.

I am here to help families, couples , and individuals understand how to better manage their challenges such as depression, anxiety, personal loss, infidelity, substance abuse, and self-esteem issues. As a couples and family therapist, I am experienced and trained to focus on relational issues as well as the everyday struggles of the individual.

The importance of connection: when we connect with another person we feel wanted, needed and loved. If we are unable to connect we may feel sad,or lost. I try to connect with each person to begin the process of healing, growth, and self empowerment. I see each each person(s) as unique and in need of a level of interaction that they are missing in their lives. I believe in working with couples I can be most effective in assisting to open up the communication to find the emotional reconnect. I teach core tools for effective communication.

During my time as a therapist, I have helped individuals, couples , and families find healing and understanding in desperate situations.
I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. I want to help you achieve whatever solutions and life changes you are looking for while enjoying the therapeutic process as much as possible and experiencing yourself in new ways. Reaching out to a therapist can often be hard. You may fear being judged or being vulnerable with a stranger. But I am confident that given the chance, you will see the benefits in talking with me as I really want to help you succeed. My hope is that you take this leap of faith and see how I can best support you. We can only do the best that we can.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
