Seeking out an Autism Spectrum Disorder evaluation for your child can be a scary and overwhelming process. Often, and quite unfortunately, families are waiting for months at a time for these appointments to even occur. Through New Beginnings, Verbal Beginnings' diagnostic program, I seek to help fill this gap and provide these services in a comfortable and supportive setting to help children obtain the intervention services they need.

Our program success rate is high, with 96% goal achievement among a sample of 26 children, including children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, that had completed the intensive therapy program.
For many parents, mealtime can be frustrating, especially if challenging behavior goes beyond ‘typical pickiness.’ As the director of Healthy Beginnings, a behavioral feeding therapy program, I have helped children that have displayed a variety of challenging mealtimes behaviors. This includes selectivity by food, color, brand, and texture, as well as children who may vomit at the sight of a new food, or perhaps refuse to feed themselves with utensils. Feeding tube dependency is another area in which I have taught children how to eat and drink who perhaps have had minimal or no experience with oral feeding.

With 19 years of experience I treat various disorders including autism spectrum disorders, behavior problems, ADHD, anxiety (OCD, generalized anxiety disorder, hair-pulling), and depression.
Parenting a child who has temper tantrums is difficult. You may find yourself frequently correcting your child for acting before he/she thinks about what is going on. Raising a child who is diagnosed with autism , developmental delays, or intellectual delays can be hard to manage. Your child may excel at school but then struggles with worry beyond what is appropriate for the situation back at home. Not to mention the worry or depression you may be feeling as the parent trying to juggle everything. It is time to find the help you need.

I believe that the power of therapy comes through the understanding of how self defeating patterns of behavior interfere with our ability to have a happy and productive life. I believe that focusing and building on our strengths will enhance our functioning. Examining our behavior is critical to developing healthy options for ourselves and in our relationships. Through an open and respectful process we will examine the areas in your life that have interfered with your ability to make positive, forward thinking choices. As you develop different coping strategies the hope of change will support healing and growth.
