It is not easy being young, I know, I have been there. It can be painful when no one will listen or care about your problems, they have their own. As a native of Baltimore City, graduate of Baltimore City Schools and a retired Counselor of Baltimore City Schools, I believe I have the expertise to help others conquer obstacles in life. At the Gallery of Minds, we will listen and care. You'll learn how to cope and overcome peer pressure, bullying, anger, depression, trauma and more. If this sounds like the place for you or your child, feel free to contact me.

Our bodies know what it may take our minds a lifetime to comprehend. I believe healing happens when we become more aware of what our bodies are trying to tell us. When we allow ourselves to safely slow down and notice—our thoughts, emotions, and the messages our bodies are sending, we access our wisdom and can then move forward in healthier ways. In our work together, I’ll help you reconnect with yourself, cultivating awareness and compassion for where you are right now, so real change becomes possible.

From the first time we meet and throughout our journey, I will invest my full attention into listening to your unique story. This is so important because you are the expert on you. We all have the power to heal ourselves from within. Sometimes all that's needed is a little redirection and a different perspective. Other times it is necessary to learn new coping skills and approaches to difficult situations.

Are you feeling the emotional burnout of caring for a child, parent, or multiple family members?
If you struggle with anxiety, racing thoughts about what-if scenarios, feeling the need to "earn" someone's love or that pressure to be “perfect,” know that you are not alone. We will integrate mindfulness, grounding, somatic techniques, and IFS.

Are you struggling with symptoms that seem unmanageable? Are you looking for a way to learn and engage simple practices that can improve your overall well-being? If so, I offer my services. I became a social worker in an effort to reach individuals, like myself, that needed a judgment free third person to listen and reassure that not one person needs to be alone in the world. I understand that everyone has strengths as well as stress and both can be used toward creating a successful life.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
