Feeling chronic negative emotions such as sadness, anger, anxiety, or loneliness is often a sign that something in our relationships has gone awry. By the time we attend psychotherapy, the task of altering our relationships may feel difficult or impossible to navigate alone. As a psychodynamic therapist, I am interested in how your early relationships impact your personality, worldview, attachment, perceptions, and coping mechanisms. Through compassion, challenge and sometimes humor, I aim to help my patients gain insight, learn new ways of relating, and implement change in order to heal, grow, and flourish.

I use a psychodynamic approach.
If you are going through a difficult time or want to have a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy is a great place to start. I believe talk therapy is essential for true growth and understanding of oneself and others. I work with clients to help them gain deeper insight into their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. In particular, I offer support to individuals seeking to cope with relationship issues, especially through the arduous process of separation and divorce, as well as anxiety, depression, substance use and intimacy.

I am a licensed social worker and have completed a doctorate degree in clinical social work with application of psychodynamic theories.
As a psychotherapist, I am committed to providing a supportive, safe and judgment-free environment for my clients to work through present problems and to address unresolved issues from the past. The goal is to help individuals better understand the causes of their problems and identify patterns, develop better self-awareness and self-acceptance, form healthier relationships and improve the overall quality of their life. Understanding the impact of the past and making peace with it are important components of treatment as one's past can continue to hunt the present time and influence it in ways that are not always evident to us.

My orientation is psychodynamic and I employ a number of evidence-based therapeutic methods, including EMDR, that will honor the client's goals for therapy.
NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME All of us at times find ourselves overwhelmed by problems that we struggle to cope with on our own, whether around difficult relationships, life transitions, family stress, disruptive traumatic memories, or a sense of isolation or despair. My goal is to help my clients better recognize and understand their feelings, thoughts and behaviors and to mobilize their own innate strengths to reduce suffering, create positive change, and feel stronger and more connected.

I work mainly from a psychodynamic perspective while incorporating cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies to cultivate self-efficacy.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative process that allows trust and authenticity to foster insight and growth. A willingness to look inward and allow space for vulnerability will bring you stronger, more authentic connections to both yourself and to the people in your life. I provide psychotherapy for adults, young adults and older adolescents in an empathetic non-judgmental environment with a focus on self-awareness, self-compassion and self-kindness. I use a variety of techniques and theories as well as warmth and a touch of humor to help move your towards healing and reaching your goals.

Psychodynamic therapy and psychoanalysis help to facilitate self-awareness and can lead to lasting change.
I work with adults and adolescents with a variety of struggles and difficulties including relationship problems, depression, anxiety, trauma, and loss. I think about treating whole people rather than diagnoses or problems. And, because each person is unique, I believe that close and careful listening is vital as I try to understand each person who comes to see me. I work to create secure and collaborative relationships in which my patients and I can be curious together and work on understanding and shifting patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating that may cause symptoms and interfere with living fully and freely.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Psychodynamic therapy, also known as insight-oriented therapy, evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis. Like adherents of psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapists believe that bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness promotes insight and resolves conflict. But psychodynamic therapy is briefer and less intensive than psychoanalysis and also focuses on the relationship between the therapist and the client, as a way to learn about how the client relates to everyone in their life.
