Since it was founded in 2003 by Dr. Stephen Holland, Capital Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has been providing research-proven treatment and compassionate care in Washington, DC. In 2020, we expanded our practice to provide treatment and psychological assessments to children, adolescents, and adults in Bethesda, MD. CBT has been shown to be effective for a number of problems, including: depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic, phobias, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, personality disorders, and relationship problems.
Dr. Holland is an internationally recognized CBT expert and author of a widely used book on empirically-supported treatments for anxiety and depression. Dr. John Dennis, Clinical Director, trained with Dr. Aaron Beck, founder of Cognitive Therapy. All of our therapists have advanced training in CBT, including mindfulness and acceptance based approaches.
Our approach to therapy is warm and personal. We seek to understand your needs and goals. We then work with you to apply research-proven methods to help you feel better and thrive in your life. We have immediate openings for in-person and teletherapy sessions and psychological testing.
