Why do most people come to a therapist in the first place? Because they want a better life. It's a brave thing to do- to realize that you want more for yourself and to take the step to begin making that wish a reality. Sometimes people come to me with a specific problem, and sometimes just because they're tired of feeling disappointed with life. Whatever the reason, we begin the process by sitting down together and looking at what is bothering you.

We are all born with eyes, but learn how to see. Our self and worldview are shaped and molded by traumatic experiences, intimate relationships, and occurrences in the greater world around us. Our culture teaches us to conform for love and acceptance, to change our bodies and beliefs to fit the status quo, and to value working over living. Through the process of therapy, I will collaborate with you to uncover your wisest, most authentic Self and harness your strengths ultimately to learn how to navigate life’s ebbs and flows connected to your values, needs, and desires.

I help clients heal from trauma, improve self-esteem, and manage experiences like psychosis with compassion and practical tools.
Many of the people I work with are trying to better understand themselves and their experiences. They might be healing from trauma, exploring their LGBTQ+ identity, navigating neurodivergence, or adjusting to major life changes. They are ready to look inward, even if they're not sure where to start. My clients often want to feel more grounded, connected, and at peace with themselves, and they're seeking a space where all parts are welcome.

Are you suffering? You don't have to suffer anymore. You can learn to come to and live from your heart. Your heart transmutes all feelings. You can directly experience any feeling in your heart without the story and it will dissolve. In your heart, with the support of your breath, you can't buy into, believe negative thoughts. From your heart, you can learn to be with any situation, even physical pain. In your heart, you can discover you have all the answers. In your heart, you realize there is no separation, and you are light, love, total….there's nothing wrong with you….there's nothing lacking.

I started my work at an outpatient healthcare clinic in Baltimore City primarily assisting those who were unhoused. During this work, I partnered with many diverse individuals. As I got to know them and our relationships developed, I realized how valuable it was to spend time with them in their communities and to understand their backgrounds. I developed a deep appreciation of how challenging it can be to share your story with others. Because of this, I feel strongly committed to continuing my work with individuals who are struggling with life changes or other traumas.

I enjoy working with a diverse group of individuals who have various levels of mental health challenges. My approach to psychotherapy comes from an understanding that every individual is unique and that various life experiences as well as genetic makeup contribute to one's overall mental health. I take into account the particular needs of the individual & focus on the current problem while also processing & exploring further in an attempt to identify & resolve the root of the issue.

By building self-esteem I help you gain confidence, which reduces anxiety and depression.
I specialize in treating low self esteem. I believe that healthy self esteem develops in childhood as a result of the way we interact with the most important people in our lives. Impairments in self esteem lead to problems with self care, and creates anxiety and depression. I can help you like yourself, fill the empty spaces, and help you relate to others.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
