The goal of therapy isn’t to ‘feel better’, although that should be one of the outcomes. The suffering we experience is rarely a malfunctioning of the brain- it is usually in response to real challenges and is an important way to prepare ourselves for a developmental leap. When we are suffering, our brains release hormones that promote ‘neuroplasticity’, our minds begin to reexamine outdated narratives, and our relationships are challenged with the need for deeper vulnerability and more skillful communication.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents and families. Most of my experience has been with clients facing symptoms of trauma, anxiety, behavioral issues, depression and anger management. I believe it is important for me to have a collaborative professional relationship with each client so that we can collectively meet the client's needs. I prioritize creating a secure environment using principles from Art Therapy, allowing expression beyond words.

As my practice’s name implies, we can all feel broken at times. And to compound matters, we might face discrimination through no fault of our own—on the basis of race, sexual orientation, gender, finances, age, health or ability status, or neurocognitive differences. In my years of practice with the chronically ill and under-housed, I’ve seen and addressed the fallout from stigma and institutional barriers all day every day. So that’s the bad news, which you probably already know.

Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, I create a safe space for healing, growth, and lasting change.
My ideal client is someone who feels weighed down by life’s challenges—whether it’s trauma, addiction, grief, depression, anxiety, or court-mandated anger management—and is searching for relief, direction, and lasting change. They may feel isolated, frustrated, or overwhelmed by stress, but they want to regain control, improve relationships, and discover healthier ways to cope. Their goals often include reducing emotional pain, breaking destructive patterns, managing anger effectively, and building confidence in who they are. Ultimately, they want a safe, supportive space where they can heal, grow, and create a more meaningful life.

Everyone loves a good cruise director. But the truth is, you're tired of managing the entire ship. And directing isn't what you want to do, it's what you learned to do. It gives you that fleeting sense that everything is under control, if only for a moment. It feels familiar to operate this way, but the price you pay is bone deep exhaustion and resentment towards people you love. At this point you have tried everything from meditation to basic talk therapy that didn't help. The truth is, you need help and feel ashamed that you can't just figure this out alone. But the thing is, the burdens we carry get heavy.

There are times in life when it is difficult to believe that we will ever reach our dreams, hopes, goals, or have the future for which we had hoped. We may be feeling stuck, lonely, and unable to develop or access our wisdom and strengths. Too often, challenging life situations or decisions made in the past tend to have a lasting effect on our lives. I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow, change and heal our relationships with ourselves, our significant others, and those around us.
