As a sex positive, gender and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist I enjoy working with both individuals and couples facing a multitude of different life challenges.
I am here to create a safe and trusting environment that allows clients to unload their thoughts and emotions. Empowering them in a genuine, straightforward, and relaxed atmosphere to step into the brave space where they are able to find their truth, speak it, and live it. My integrative approach is tailored to each client. During this process the client learns how to accept where they are in this moment. Then identifying and making changes to get to where they want to be. This allows them to free themselves from the persistent negative thoughts and societal pressures holding them back from living the life they have always wanted.

Starting therapy can feel intimidating - I'm glad you took the first step. Whether you want to work through a past trauma, a difficult life transition, or low self-esteem, when you are ready to, you have the ability to change your life for the better. You can change patterns that no longer serve you when you know where they come from, and how to process them. Together, we can work to heal old wounds and manage challenging times, in order to work towards the best version of yourself.

Now accepting clients on Headway, SonderMind, & Grow. I feel life is a journey & not a destination. You are 1 step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. My goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating & balanced. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying various approaches & techniques, we'll explore long-standing patterns & "stinking thinking" that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling & meaningful life.

My ideal client would put as much effort as they are ready to in that moment, day, or week to continue prioritizing their mental health needs. Over time, I hope to support each person in identifying what is helpful vs. harmful to their overall well-being. I look forward to supporting individuals navigating life transitions, women's issues, those in need of validation and perspective-taking, struggling with anxiety, searching for answers and healing from traumatic experiences, feeling "stuck," and individuals hoping for support with executive functioning challenges, sensory challenges, or complex social interactions.

As my practice’s name implies, we can all feel broken at times. And to compound matters, we might face discrimination through no fault of our own—on the basis of race, sexual orientation, gender, finances, age, health or ability status, or neurocognitive differences. In my years of practice with the chronically ill and under-housed, I’ve seen and addressed the fallout from stigma and institutional barriers all day every day. So that’s the bad news, which you probably already know.

Life is life-ing, and taking a chance on letting another person support you can feel overwhelming. Perhaps you’ve dealt with past letdowns or inconsistencies time and time again, and yet, here you are showing up for yourself and/or your relationship. I do not take lightly being rooted in your story. As someone who holds multiple marginalized identities; Black, Female, Queer, I recognize the benefits when our voices, experiences and nuances are given a space to be nurtured. I welcome all parts of you that will sit on the couch with us. Even the part exhausted still fighting to protect you, because that's all it knows.

The goal of therapy isn’t to ‘feel better’, although that should be one of the outcomes. The suffering we experience is rarely a malfunctioning of the brain- it is usually in response to real challenges and is an important way to prepare ourselves for a developmental leap. When we are suffering, our brains release hormones that promote ‘neuroplasticity’, our minds begin to reexamine outdated narratives, and our relationships are challenged with the need for deeper vulnerability and more skillful communication.

I work with individual adults and couples.
My therapy stance is that the pursuit of a meaningful, examined life often requires that we feel badly. But, when we can prioritize what matters to us, learn to accommodate emotional discomfort, and behave in ways that match our values, we are more fulfilled, purposeful, and connected to what we love.

Marital discord.
Sometimes this comes through increased insight, and sometimes through learning specific skills and tools, as necessary. And that is the beauty of therapy- it is not one-size-fits-all but can fit your needs and address you within your world.

My typical clientele looks like, couples, individuals experiencing trauma, and teens/young adults struggling with sports injuries, peer pressure, college/work transitions.
I work primarily with people who have experienced trauma and couples who are looking to work on their communication. Clients and couples who are introspective tend to thrive in therapy with me. If you often ask yourself, “What makes me feel this way?” or “Is this normal?”—you’re not alone. I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, and more, helping them explore their thought patterns. When we understand how we think, we can better understand the behaviors that follow. My sessions focus on uncovering those connections and building insight that leads to meaningful change.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
