Embedded within an anti-oppressive framework, my approach to therapy draws heavily from internal family systems therapy, as well as attachment theory, sensorimotor psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies, neuroscience and mindfulness.
Therapy with me will provide a safe, warm, nonjudgmental, identity-affirming space where you will feel fully heard and understood. Within a feminist, anti-oppressive, trauma-centered framework we will explore how past and present experiences have shaped the distress, anxiety, anger, or hopelessness you may be carrying. We will explore how you cope with this and why some coping strategies may be further contributing to the stress/distress carried in your brain and body. Together we will work towards healing, growth and developing a greater understanding and compassion for yourself and your journey.

I enjoy working with creatively inspired individuals searching for or growing fulfilling careers or entrepreneurial opportunities which emphasize their unique personalities and natural gifts that allow for an integrated work-life balance. I also enjoy working with parents interested in finding an integrated lifestyle that merges personal, professional, and familial values. I use a family systems lens in individual counseling, where we collaborate on exploring how past and present family systems influence a person’s sense of self. I also work with clients' external systems in family therapy, parent coaching, couples counseling etc.

Utilizing a strength-based focus, I integrate techniques from various theories and modalities such as: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, internal family systems , mindfulness, attachment and narrative therapy.
Finding a good therapist is like shopping for a good pair of shoes. Why, you might ask. It’s all about the fit. You usually choose shoes that are most comfortable and suit you best. Whether you may have gone to a therapist before or have never been – whether you had awful experiences in the past or none at all. Successful therapy is about finding the right fit; about finding a relationship where you have a safe space to bring any and all of your feelings and challenges.

Grounding my approach in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems , I work collaboratively with my clients to promote their holistic wellbeing.
Let’s face it, life has a tendency to wear us all down--be it the death of a loved one, illness, traumatic experiences, or even just the demands of everyday life. As a result, we might find ourselves plagued by chronic stress, anxiety, or depression. Perhaps you find yourself feeling hopeless, trapped, or isolated. Maybe you’ve felt as though you've been merely surviving life, instead of actually living it. If so, know that you are not alone, and change is possible! I’m extremely passionate and dedicated to helping my clients heal, improve their lives, and reach their personal goals.

I also utilize Internal Family Systems ( IFS ) to help you better understand why you get stuck in patterned behavior, help you learn how to work with your inner defenses, and work towards wellness.
I have experience working with teenagers and adults who have symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, bipolar, homelessness, and OCD in both a community based mental health agency and a mental health clinic. One of the most important aspects in this work is making sure that you have a strong therapeutic alliance. This is often more important than any modality a therapist uses. I work towards developing this with each client through acceptance, warmth, humor, as well as a personal approach. Through this collaboration, I hope to assist you in getting to a place of peace with your past and more focused on the things you value.

I am an IFS -informed licensed psychotherapist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, depression, self-esteem, trauma, abuse, grief/loss and emotion dysregulation.
We all experience difficulties at some point in our lives, and we each can benefit from additional support, whether for a specific situation or in resolving a longer term issue. I believe that one of the most important elements of effective therapy is the development of a safe, trusting relationship between therapist and client. Through genuine and respectful connection, we create the environment in which true healing can occur. By promoting insight, increased awareness, and self-compassion, I will support you in living the life of value that you deserve.

I am Level 1 Internal Family Systems trained, and use parts work extensively.
How are you looking to grow, change, or expand your awareness of yourself and your relationships? My work is to support and challenge; providing you with space to explore your self and connections to others, understand the story you create around your experience, and recognize patterns in your life from a foundation of support. Together, we investigate the ways you relate to others, the ties in your history that inform where you are now, and how we can facilitate healing from pain-whether that pain looks like depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual dysfunction, or discomfort in your relationships.

To help move patients toward recovery I use mindfulness strategies, as well as, EMDR, EFT, and IFS , although I have found that just talking or looking for solutions can be helpful too.
There is no doubt that these are stressful times. You may have been struggling with anxiety or depression for a while or may find that this is a new experience brought on by recent events. Perhaps you find yourself staring off into space, losing time, or you feel disconnected from everyone including yourself. You wonder if you're going crazy. When you try to talk with friends or family about what you are going through it doesn't help because they don’t get it or they are struggling too. Whatever the problem is, it is interfering with your life, your relationships, and your feelings about yourself and you are ready to get some help.

I utilize IFS therapy, my knowledge of mindfulness, yoga psychology, neuroscience and whole-body mental health.
You are brave, curious and brilliant but feel like you are an imposter and never good enough. You have tried people pleasing and a relentless pursuit of self-improvement strategies but can’t shake off the feeling of not being worthy. You long for true belonging, confidence and to live your most authentic expression by releasing old patterns that no longer serve you. You are not alone. I believe that we all have inherent within us expansive wisdom, and capacity to heal. We can't always access our truest Self because of past trauma, societal pressures and habitual patterns that keep us disengaged from our true nature.

Internal Family Systems ( IFS ), Somatic techniques, Cognitive and Dialectal Behavior Therapies (CBT and DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), etc.
I am currently accepting new telehealth clients! It is easy to feel overwhelmed, singled out and isolated by today’s climate, and sometimes just going about daily life can feel like a struggle. Sometimes, feeling on the “outside” of certain communities can be a reflection of the world, and not actually of you and your identity. I am here to really hear you so that you can just exist, without having to explain aspects of your identity, or having to harbor your trauma anymore for fear of being misunderstood. My goal is to create a comfortable space for you to embolden your own skills for your own journey toward healing.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
