Limited Openings - With extensive background and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I work with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Hoarding, Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors, anxiety, and depression.
Therapy is a collaborative effort between clinician and client. This relationship helps create a treatment plan that is unique to the individual and their challenges. I also find that it brings creativity and flexibility into the development of therapeutic exercises. We are working to facilitate mastery over the individual’s struggles.

Daily life can be stressful! Many people experience depression and anxiety at different times during their life. As someone with lived experience, I understand how hard it can be to stay present when thoughts and feeling are overwhelming. Today I’m a psychotherapist specializing in Anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and complex traumas. I spent many years in general mental health practice before working with veterans at the VA. There I began using evidence-based treatments for PTSD. After retiring from the VA, I focused more deeply on specialty OCD treatments. I have also continued to work with Anxiety, PTSD and complex traumas.

Have you ever wondered if you have OCD? Have you been feeling stuck in traditional talk therapy? Are you struggling with intrusive thoughts or constant rumination that feels never-ending? Do you find yourself caught in compulsions or rituals, such as checking lights, stoves, or electronics, engaging in excessive cleaning or bathing, or getting stuck in a cycle of reassurance-seeking (yes this can be a compulsion)? Do you experience overwhelming doubts- questioning "did I really say that," or "maybe I really did hurt their feelings." Or perhaps you're dealing with some of the more distressing, taboo forms of OCD.

Do you find yourself struggling with overwhelm, people pleasing or knee-jerk reactions to situations that you later regret? Or engaging in negative/self-harming behaviors, such as binge eating or overspending? You may be struggling with trauma responses and I believe you have the capacity to find healing. I help clients establish internal safety and understand their current coping skills/behaviors. Where necessary we make changes and amplify the strengths you inherently already have. Recovering from trauma doesn’t mean we eliminate every frustration, however we work on the capacity to stay present and calm where appropriate.

My ideal clients are neurodivergent adolescents and adults seeking clarity after feeling misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or overlooked. Many are high-masking or late-identified and have spent years compensating for ADHD, autism, or trauma, often leading to burnout. I specialize in structured, evidence-based diagnostic clarification to differentiate overlapping conditions and provide clear, affirming answers. From there, we develop individualized, practical treatment plans that support sustainable functioning and meaningful change.

I am a psychologist specializing in CBT for anxiety disorders, OCD and depression. CBT is an active therapy that can help you feel better and maximize your potential by overcoming ways of thinking that limit you. As a scientist-practitioner, I am committed to providing treatments that are proven to work, including CBT, mindfulness, ERP and PE. However, psychological science alone is not enough to achieve success in therapy. Successful therapy must draw upon your expertise in your lived experience. For this reason, I will actively collaborate with you to tailor your therapy experience to your unique challenges, strengths, and values.

When human beings experience various forms of traumas or extreme life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. What interest me into the mental health field initially, was that anxiety and depression was prevalent in my family. I wanted to understand and become more knowledgeable about the mental health issues my family suffered. It became my mission to help others moving forward, to recover from anxiety and depression. My desire became to help my clients not only recover from anxiety and depression, but to become the greatest version of theirselves.

As a therapist, facilitating goal achievement involves fostering a collaborative relationship, clarifying objectives, and tailoring interventions to the client's strengths and needs. Employing evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or motivational interviewing can empower clients to identify barriers, develop coping strategies, and sustain progress. Cultivating a supportive environment and celebrating milestones can further motivate clients on their journey towards self-improvement and fulfillment.

Hoarding Therapists
What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?
Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.

How long does therapy for hoarding take?
Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.

Are there medications for hoarding?
The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.

Can hoarding come back after treatment?
Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
