My therapeutic approach is eclectic, utilizing mindfulness, CBT, Gestalt, and reality therapy.
As a clinician, I believe we all possess resilience. Clients who decide to work with me may be having difficulty navigating their spiritual journey, stress, past trauma and current trauma responses, ADHD, anger management, anxiety, depression, family relationships, grief/bereavement, life transitions, medical issues/physical health, and intimate/romantic relationships. Everything I do, I do with authenticity and thus clients must be open to being their authentic self, open to feedback and think beyond what is in front of you.

I use various theoretical approaches, including Gestalt, CBT, experiential therapy, motivational interviewing and others.
I work with teenagers and adults with anxiety, depression, school avoidance, self-harm behaviors and OCD. If you like the idea of speaking freely about your thoughts and feelings without being judged, if you like feeling completely accepted for who you are, without having to change anything about yourself, then you’ve come to the right place. Therapy is an opportunity to meet with someone who will accept and support you unconditionally. It’s a space where you can actually learn to stop judging yourself and to let go of thought patterns and beliefs that have been holding you back from experiencing inner peace.

I pull from Gestalt, person-centered, and feminist theories.
Oh, hey! Is trying to find a therapist causing existential dread? Is your executive functioning barely holding it together long enough for you to read ANOTHER therapist description? Look, I’ve got you! Consider me your therapist if you are: -Gay. -ADHD -Traumatized and coping with dark humor -A perfectionist with anxiety right NOW -In a relationship that is messy, sexy, or confusing AF. -Traumatized (but this time with the religious-deconstruction flavor of trauma) -An artist, performer, or in another high-demand career -Needing individual therapy (adults & teens 13+) or couples/relationship counseling (ENM/Poly affirming)

My style draws primarily from Gestalt: an experiential, relational, here-and-now-oriented, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approach.
I collaborate with clients to co-create a safe and comfortable environment where growth and healing unfold. I trust that all people possess an inner healing wisdom, and that as people return to wholeness, they naturally discover new and meaningful choices.

Some of the methods I use frequently are mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapy, self-compassion/ compassion, gestalt therapy and other body centered approaches.
We can't always control what life brings our way, but we can choose how we respond to it. I enjoy helping people reconnect with their natural wisdom in the midst of life's challenges. My goal is to help my clients gain awareness of what is already working in their lives and what patterns and habits have become outdated or self-defeating. A situation, problem or symptom that appears unworkable or overwhelming can offer the key to its own healing when held with gentle, inquisitive attention.

My graduate studies included Gestalt therapy.
My clients are often thoughtful professionals: driven, reflective, and emotionally attuned. Still, many find themselves stuck: overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward, even after years of personal growth. I work with both individuals and couples to navigate anxiety, burnout, and relationship stress through a blend of existential therapy, ACT, and mind-body approaches such as hypnosis. I've completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy Levels 1 & 2, and I integrate its principles with attachment theory to help partners communicate with greater clarity, emotional honesty, and compassion.

Clinically I am trained in Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Jungian, and Transpersonal psychotherapies.
I am more interested in what you are experiencing than anything I could tell you about myself. Generally, individuals come to therapy because they have reached a personal impasse and would like an outside perspective.

I draw mainly from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Existential, and Narrative therapies.
We all need a little structure and support as we navigate life’s challenges. I work primarily with adult individuals and couples. I'd love to help you push back against anxiety, building a life that feels big and free... or to learn how to trust yourself and gain a deep, clear sense of who you are... or to get out of your head and tune into the language of your body's own innate wisdom... or for you and your partner, to finally break free from dysfunctional patterns and regain a lost sense of connection and attunement to each other.

My approach to psychotherapy is holistic and feminist. I believe that mind, body, spirit, community, culture, and institutions are all essentially interwoven into the issues that we face. I don’t think that anyone is broken, and I don’t think that therapy is about fixing yourself. Instead, I believe that people get stuck in undesirable patterns, and therapy is an opportunity to discover new, flexible approaches to outdated ways of relating with ourselves and others. At this time, I am available for working individually with adults, particularly those suffering from depression, anxiety, and trauma-related issues.

You are brave, curious and brilliant but feel like you are an imposter and never good enough. You have tried people pleasing and a relentless pursuit of self-improvement strategies but can’t shake off the feeling of not being worthy. You long for true belonging, confidence and to live your most authentic expression by releasing old patterns that no longer serve you. You are not alone. I believe that we all have inherent within us expansive wisdom, and capacity to thrive. We can't always access our truest Self because of systems of oppression, trauma, and habitual patterns that keep us disengaged from our true nature.

We are all born with eyes, but learn how to see. Our self and worldview are shaped and molded by traumatic experiences, intimate relationships, and occurrences in the greater world around us. Our culture teaches us to conform for love and acceptance, to change our bodies and beliefs to fit the status quo, and to value working over living. Through the process of therapy, I will collaborate with you to uncover your wisest, most authentic Self and harness your strengths ultimately to learn how to navigate life’s ebbs and flows connected to your values, needs, and desires.

Today, people have gotten so use to keeping their thoughts bottled up or not properly displaying their feelings and emotions. As an experienced Clinician, it is my duty to provide a safe and supportive environment, where I can work collaboratively with my patients to address their individual needs. In addition, as a culturally, competent Clinician, it is my duty to teach clients how to understand and process their thoughts and feelings, how to learn to implement interventions and strategies to address difficult situations, and to positively respond to crisis conditions that may arise; however, the client must be ready & committed.

You’re smart, creative, and driven—but beneath the surface, you might feel drained or disconnected. Maybe you’ve learned to rely on logic to push through stress, hold yourself to high standards, or keep going even when you’re running on empty—especially in the face of, or maybe because of, difficult or demanding relationships. Despite doing everything 'right,' something still feels off. You want more balance, clarity, and a deeper sense of fulfillment—a move away from simply reacting to life to feeling truly present and grounded, connected to yourself and those around you.

My ideal client wants to explore their reactions, life events, and internal states like their thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations. They do not need to feel extra motivated or fearless but with curiosity and a willingness to explore and see what comes up. Perhaps you need help focusing or communicating with a partner, friend, family member, or workplace associate. Maybe you are trying to process difficult events. Maybe you would like to maintain mental health and perhaps find a higher level of functioning for yourself through self-development. I am open to working with many different goals and philosophies.

Gestalt Therapists

What is gestalt therapy?

Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.

How does gestalt therapy work?

Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.

How long does gestalt therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.

Does gestalt therapy work?

Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
