Do you feel unleashed potential deep within that you have not yet been able to manifest? Do you wish to dive deeper into your therapy process? If so, you may have found your place here. With nearly 20 years of experience in mental health, I specialize in helping you heal from wounded childhood attachment, pre-verbal trauma, life change and transition, depression, anxiety, and stress. My therapeutic interests include body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), such as hair pulling and skin picking, sensory regulation, anxiety disorders, ADHD, depression, and grief. Music therapy is an expressive arts therapy, a collaborative process to help clients meet their goals as musical experiences and the relationships that develop through them serve as the force for change.
Whether you are looking for psychodynamic music therapy, mindfulness and music-facilitated relaxation, music-based pain management, or want to explore new avenues for self-expression, releasing emotional tensions or process your issues in a creative way, it is my belief that each person has innate self-healing potential, and as a music therapist, I serve as a collaborator with my clients in alleviating distress, gaining insight, and re-contextualizing experiences to find validation, peace, and even joy in the musical healing space. Especially when finding the words or speaking is difficult or painful music can help heal our emotions

“In every adult there lurks a child— an eternal child, something that is always becoming, is never completed, and calls for unceasing care, attention, and education. That is the part of the personality which wants to develop and become whole.“ -Carl Jung.

I specialize in expressive arts therapy and tend to take an individualized, client-centered approach to treatment.
Let's explore different ways to reach your goal(s) and which aligns best with you and the future you seek to build. One might not be able to see their blind spots, but knows and acknowledges that they are there, and will grow to trust that I will help make them visible in a way that leads to the end goal they are after. My hope is that as we do the work together, you will find healing, understanding, or the goal you are seeking. You will strive to communicate with me (and themselves) honestly and openly throughout the ebbs and flows of the process in a safe environment and celebrated.

Energy therapies, channeling work, and expressive arts techniques are powerful modalities through which I support clients in creating the authentic lives they most want.
Now Accepting New Clients (2023): The stressors of modern living create noisy interference in the “telephone line” to our highest self (often called the soul, spirit, unified field, universal consciousness, etc.). Through my intuitive psychotherapy practice, I cast my mystical gifts through the lens of my expertise as a licensed clinical social worker. Marrying the two allows for optimum balance between divine clarity and therapeutic processing and integration work. Clients benefit on a soul level while remaining anchored in practical application tools for everyday living.

A chronic illness, life-altering injury, or significant loss can challenge the development and psychosocial well-being of a child and cause lasting trauma if not appropriately and intentionally addressed. With my support and guidance, children and families practice coping techniques to navigate their "new normal," engage in legacy-building and memory-making activities to facilitate healthy grief responses, learn about their diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment through medical play and education, and feel empowered to advocate for themselves in stressful medical situations.

My approach to psychotherapy is holistic and feminist. I believe that mind, body, spirit, community, culture, and institutions are all essentially interwoven into the issues that we face. I don’t think that anyone is broken, and I don’t think that therapy is about fixing yourself. Instead, I believe that people get stuck in undesirable patterns, and therapy is an opportunity to discover new, flexible approaches to outdated ways of relating with ourselves and others. At this time, I am available for working individually with adults, particularly those suffering from depression, anxiety, and trauma-related issues.

Sometimes we get so busy with the stress and fast-paced movement of daily life that when we finally come up for air, we realize we're living a life in accordance to others' wants and needs. We may have normalized parts of our lives we dislike, and now feel unsure or unworthy of who we are or what we want. Therapy is a process in which we work together to create space for you to slow down and unpack all of the beliefs, burdens, expectations, identities, fears, and hopes you hold; to assess what works and let go of what no longer serves you, to review who you've been and cultivate the person you want to be.

Expressive Arts Therapists

What happens in expressive arts therapy?

In an expressive arts therapy session, the therapist will provide the space and materials necessary to encourage the client to express themselves creatively. These can include art supplies, musical instruments, a journal, a camera, and more. The therapist offers careful guidance throughout the creative process, often noticing and talking about psychological issues as they arise. Many clients also benefit from the mind-body connection—the physical act of making art can help them feel more grounded and present.

How long does expressive arts therapy take?

An expressive arts therapy session will typically last between 50 minutes and an hour. Group sessions may run longer. Sometimes, a client might only need one or two sessions of expressive arts therapy in conjunction with talk therapy to resolve a psychological issue. Others might find a fixed number of sessions over the course of either weeks or months to be beneficial. The duration depends on the client and their individual needs and goals for therapy.

How does expressive arts therapy help children?

Creativity is an important part of normal child development. Expressive arts therapy proves a safe outlet for child clients to learn to identify their emotions and express them in healthy ways. In expressive arts therapy, children can build their self-esteem, discover more about their personality and strengths, and feel a sense of normalcy in an otherwise chaotic world. This therapeutic approach can be particularly helpful for children with developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, speech impairments, and other conditions.

What are the limitations of expressive arts therapy?

Sometimes individuals have physical limitations that can affect their ability to express themselves artistically in certain mediums. For example, someone with hearing problems might find it difficult to make music. Sickness and mobility issues can make some types of art physically inaccessible (e.g., sculpting, dancing, etc.). Sometimes, clients are overly skeptical and have trouble letting go and engaging with the creative process. Individuals who require a higher level of care may be better served with other types of therapy.
