To help move patients toward recovery I use mindfulness strategies, as well as, EMDR , EFT, and IFS, although I have found that just talking or looking for solutions can be helpful too.
There is no doubt that these are stressful times. You may have been struggling with anxiety or depression for a while or may find that this is a new experience brought on by recent events. Perhaps you find yourself staring off into space, losing time, or you feel disconnected from everyone including yourself. You wonder if you're going crazy. When you try to talk with friends or family about what you are going through it doesn't help because they don’t get it or they are struggling too. Whatever the problem is, it is interfering with your life, your relationships, and your feelings about yourself and you are ready to get some help.

I have been a therapist for many years, ( ~ 38-man I sound old) and have studied many theories and learned many therapeutic techniques, some more valuable than others. However, what's most important is the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. A client must come to trust their therapist, feel accepted and have faith that their therapist knows what they are doing clinically. That being said, I have found Cognitive Behavioral techniques,, EMDR for trauma, Acceptance and Commitment therapy and others effective.

On top of more traditional talk-therapy approaches, I use EMDR Therapy, LENS Neurofeedback, and other cutting-edge forms of intervention to calm your nervous system and develop your capacity to heal.
All people need to feel safe, connected and capable. When something interferes with our ability to get these needs met in a healthy way, we develop alternative solutions or avoidance strategies that may help in the short-term but cause harm in the long run. I provide a safe space for people to explore and process difficult experiences and the self-defeating beliefs and over-adaptive behaviors that may have developed in response. I have a genuine interest in others and bring warmth, authenticity, and a non-judgmental presence to sessions to help you get unstuck and to walk with you on your journey of healing and transformation.

My thorough expertise in EMDR provides a look at an individual from a ‘core beliefs’ perspective, exploring how life’s experiences have affected one’s self perception.
“Therapy is like being presented with two different paths, and choosing the road less taken” We are all products of our personal experiences. This is what makes each of us unique, coming into treatment with our own story. Im interested in hearing your story, helping you discover new ways to navigate your life. Each individual needs a different approach in treatment, and my goal is to individualize the process to help you reach your personal goal. It would be my privilege to work with you so we can together reach emotional wellness.

I am trained in somatic approaches that connect the mind and body, including TF-CBT, mindfulness, EMDR for PTSD/trauma, Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping), sandtray therapy, parts work/inner child work, play therapy, and creative modalities.
I believe that every person has the ability to heal within themselves and that healing starts by expressing our stories. Sometimes we are looking for a guide to accompany us on this journey. I specialize in working with teens and adults who may be feeling "stuck" in their lives through shame, fear, or anger and have experienced childhood trauma and neglect that continues to impact your relationships, identity, and self-esteem. I hope to support you in finding your voice, changing your body and mind's response to old patterns, and being more proactive and in control of your choices.

EMDR , IFS and the ITR Method.
UNABLE TO ACCEPT NEW CLIENTS** Throughout life, you may find yourself asking “what is wrong with me” “why can’t I just” or “why do I always”. You may not be able to pinpoint the exact moment in your life that caused you to be who you are. It’s probably not just one thing, but a culmination of things. And it seems like you’ve tried everything to help, but nothing seems to work, at least not for long. You try to go about living your life, but you find yourself repeating old patterns and hating yourself for it “I should have known better”. Maybe dating the wrong people, not feeling confident, or not trusting your judgment.

My use of EMDR can benefit those who are doing trauma recovery work, addressing negative self talk, decreasing intrusive thoughts or behaviors, and some other challenges as well.
There are so many reasons life is hard right now. We're all needing extra support and you deserve as many resources as possible. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, gender identity, sexuality, forms of oppression, etc, I can be a member of your support team. You may be looking for a therapist with a similar lived experience or just somebody you know has put in the work to educate themselves. Things might be feeling confusing, scary, frustrating, and overwhelming but you don't have to go it alone.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
