Here at Transform Your Mind we are here to build a trusting relationship with people who ready to live a healthy, happy, and productive life.
No one wakes up and says, bless me with a mental illness and negative thoughts. I know, having either or can make you feel isolated, embarrassed, and alone. Having a mental illness and/or negative thoughts are not uncommon, but can be scary if you are trying to deal with it by yourself.

Through the above mentioned therapeutic methods/ relationship I aim at helping clients share their experiences that lead them to seek help, increase self-understanding and self-acceptance, and learn the necessary skills, so that they can confront themselves and others in more effective ways.
My professional training is in nursing, psychology, pastoral counseling, and Jungian Psychoanalysis. This unique background gives me a holistic perspective and helps me to look beyond symptoms, focus on underlying causes, and build on inner strengths and resources. The goal is to help my clients recognize, appreciate and cultivate their inner life; to be their whole and best self! I have a diverse practice that includes people of various ages and cultures. I explore the unconscious through dreams, fantasies and imagination. I also perform Association Experiment for those who face stubborn creative blocks.

Hi there. I've lived in Maryland since 2012, and I am a fully licensed therapist. I really enjoy the work that I do, and it is my hope to meet my clients exactly where they are. I utilize a cognitive-behavioral and strength-based approach with my clients. I have worked clinically with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and I specialize in working with relationship stressors. Whether it's the heavy expectation we might place on ourselves or perhaps a specific relational concern, my hope is to be alongside you in a totally non-judgmental environment.

I approach my work with couples by drawing on perspectives from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
It can be difficult to contact a therapist and begin a process of exploration and change. But when you come to see me, I will strive to help you feel comfortable and welcome. You might be seeking therapy to help resolve a problem in your relationships or your work, to deal with a troubling change that has occurred, to discover how old, no longer useful patterns in your life can change, to enhance your capacity for creativity and imagination, or to come to a deeper understanding and acceptance of yourself.

I work with individual, couples , and families to overcome struggles with life transitions, lack of motivation, stress, depression, relationships, anxiety, and self esteem.
I practice from a strength-based, insight-oriented, and collaborative approach individualized to meet the unique needs of each client. I offer an empathetic, supportive, and accepting environment for my clients to feel heard and understood while also challenged and inspired to take on new perspectives, ways of thinking, and daily practices. Therapy is a process that can provide tools to relieve immediate stress, but also an opportunity to explore the underlying meanings, behavioral patterns, and relationship dynamics in order to lead a life of authenticity and genuine fulfillment.

I believe that the key to a successful experience in psychotherapy involves a strong therapeutic bond and careful attention to the relationship between therapist and client.
People often come to therapy when they are seeking relief from mental or emotional pain. I believe much of this inner pain comes from the methods we learn throughout our life to protect us from troubling thoughts and emotions, as well as from the difficulties in our environment. In psychotherapy, deep and lasting healing occurs when we develop awareness into the nature of our thinking and feeling, how they are shaped by experience, and the important functions they serve in the ways we manage our lives.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
