I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in repeating conflict, emotional shutdown, or ongoing uncertainty about their relationships.
My work is structured, and direct. We look at conflict cycles, avoidance patterns, and communication. I use Gottman interventions and behavioral exercises to help couples repair trust and effective communication. With individuals, we focus on taking concrete steps to manage anxiety, tolerate difficult emotions, clarify values, and improve overall mood.

Family and couples sessions are OON.
I offer trauma-informed support for folks navigating struggles such as anxiety, depression, complex trauma, sexual assault, self-esteem struggles, OCD, LGTBQIA+ related stressors, family dynamics, sexual and relational health, grief, and life transitions. In an ever changing world and often troubling political landscape, it's natural to struggle with identity. I seek to provide a safe haven for asking larger life questions and coping with societal struggles. Therapeutic growth begins with finding a space where you feel safe and valued in vulnerability. It is my privilege to collaboratively create that space with you.

If you are an adult, couple, or family in need of therapy please feel free to contact me.
I am of South Asian descent and open to clients of all backgrounds. However, I know there is a great need for therapy in South Asian communities. I grew up witnessing how harmful stigma can be surrounding mental health. I am an avid believer that everyone is entitled to therapy. We can work together in your journey of healing! You do not have to suffer alone nor feel shameful about it. I strive to create a space that is warm and inviting.

It's in the past, so why can't I get over it? Am I broken or just doing this to myself? Who even am I now? There's so much suffering in the world, what difference do I make? If you lie awake at night with these racing thoughts, a pit in your stomach, and pressure in your chest, reach out. Life is messy, so bring your full, messy self to therapy. We'll laugh, swear, rage at injustice, and mourn loss together. We'll figure out what's actually behind the humor, intellectualizing, people pleasing, defensiveness, and the things you're ashamed of doing.

I also have four year's of experience with Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence.
I work with members of the LGBTQIA+ communities, and folks who have complex sexuality specific trauma or concerns, to include anyone who might be exploring their identity, working through societal pressures or concerns as it relates to their LGBTQIA+ identity and managing grief or loss as it relates to changes or transition in acceptance of their LGBTQIA+ identity. Additionally, as a Black, bisexual clinician it is important for me to show up for my clients with respect and sensitivity to their intersectional identities, as many of my client hold more than one marginalized identity (i.e. race, sex, gender, social, economic, etc.).

You might feel stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break—whether that’s anxiety that won’t quiet down, the weight of past experiences that still show up in the present, or a sense that something just isn’t working in your life the way it could. Maybe you’ve tried to push through it on your own. Maybe you’ve even talked to someone before, but something still feels unresolved.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Maryland and Virginia and am authorized to practice in 40 states through PSYPACT. I enjoy working with a diverse group of individuals who have various levels of mental health challenges. My approach to psychotherapy comes from an understanding that every individual is unique and that various life experiences as well as genetic makeup contribute to one's overall mental health. I take into account the particular needs of the individual & focus on the current problem while also processing & exploring further in an attempt to identify & resolve the root of the issue.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
